Peaceful Location

Lets first discuss the Elephant in the room, this hotel is located on a steep hill. It did not bother me much because I am a Runner. but if you have a knee issue or foot problem, it will a difficult climb. But if you take your time going up, you will be fine. The owner is also willing to come to get you. And yes, you do not have to walk through neighborhoods where the locals live. If you are not used to sketchy neighborhoods, it does look scary. But at no times, did I ever feel scared because everyone was extremely friendly. and if you are a tourist, they definitely will not bother you. The looks you get is based on awe. As for the hotel, we had a wonderful and resting stay. Took my 12 y/o son with me. The staff were wonderful and the owner was extremely pleasant. We were very happy we came across this location and will definitely come back. if you are looking for a peaceful place with a million dollars view of the city, this place is it.

Beautiful! The best location in Cap Haitien

Reviewed By FarAway752596

We did spend 4 days in this amazing hotel. Breathtaking views to the ocean and town, during the day or night. The cleanliness was impeccable, tasty and good food with affordable prices. The room was nice with a/c just perfect, the breakfast buffet is limited but was good. The staff very friendly. On the other hand, the restaurant service has a lot to improve, is deficient, almost inexistant. You can wait longtime at the table and nobody is coming to assist you, after finishing your meal don't expect anybody to come and clean up your table, waste of time. We wait 2 hours for a meal and nobody moved, even when we asked several times for our meal. It was just when we could talk to a manager that things move on and we were given excuses with beers and coffee. But we have to say, food is excelent. Cormier beach is not far away by car, around 10 min. Very nice experience overall.

Large local hotel catering to the expatriate Haitian clientele..good value

Reviewed By timhrose

Located at the end of a road off Route de Freres on the down side of Petionville, one must have their own means of transport to get to and from this hotel. It's very similar in design to the other local Haitian hotels catering primarily to a Haitian expatriate clientele...large, ornate structure with lush interior garden; a swimming pool shared with the adjacent hotel; simple, clean painted rooms with bed, TV, and wifi. Not posh. The food was good especially the Haitian style dishes and the complementary breakfast. A fairly quite and unassuming place. With ones car, one can make it quickly to Petionville, a quick drive "up the hill." At night, a smooth ride to down town Port au Prince. I paid about $68 a night...I thought very reasonable and a decent value.

Perfect Stay given the circumstances

Reviewed By TorgutPt

First of all people must stop assuming realities are similar all over the world. The effort, expenses and investment a owner must have in Haiti are not the same as in Spain or Canada. Things are difficult. This said, I was super happy about my choice. It's so much nicer to stay in Milot than in Cap Haitien (which anyway can be easily visited anytime). I couldn't find anything looking reliable under 100 USD in the city. But found La Belle Maison and got a rate of about 60 USD. Including a tasty breakfast. And also, Milot is lovely, safe and picturesque village close to what most tourists are look for around here: the citadele. Accommodation was humble but pleasant, I slept well, had Wi-Fi most of the time, and good communication in Spanish. Acceptable shower. Good food (but not varying) for dinner. Advice from Erick, the owner, who although is not phisically on the spot, is always there for you via Internet. Great host! I loved my stay here.

Great Stay at La Reserve!

Reviewed By Leslie H

Since there has been an extended period of unrest and touring Haiti has not been possible, it took over a year for us to finally travel to Petionville and stay at La Reserve. During that time, Vicaire was very helpful with our room choice and patient with the uncertainty of our stay. So, after much anticipation, last week, it was finally advisable for us to travel. I am pleased to say that we were the first tourists in approximately 6 months, and we couldn’t have had a better trip! La Reserve was great, including air conditioning and a very generous breakfast of fruit and an omelette. We ate dinner there both nights, and the food was excellent. Our room had a lovely balcony. The location and ambience of La Reserve were exactly what we were hoping for. I am hopeful that tourism will pick up. It is desperately needed!

My wife and I stayed here with two church groups on a mission trip to Ranquitte in October of 2015. Our group leader had stayed here several times in the past and was always satisfied. The guest house has bunk style bedding with individual fans for each bed and a gift shop with items made by locals with the profits going back to the local makers. The meals they provided were more typical of the US and very delicious. Security seemed good and they even had two large dogs that roamed around the facility enhancing the safety of all. The owner has owned this guest house for many years and he and his staff was very inviting, accommodating and most spoke pretty good english.

L'auberge Du Vieux Port

Beautiful, lovely staff, luxurious

Reviewed By Amelia M

Visited the L'auberge Du Vieux Port in Jacmel for a delicious lunch and live acoustic music, and enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much. The owner was charming and charismatic and hosted us as we listened to the music and enjoyed a creole meal with fresh papaya juice. We received a tour of the accomodations and the rooms are lovely, spacious, and cozy. The rooftop patio is suave and has a beautiful view of the city and Port of Jacmel, which is only two blocks away. Nearby you can walk to the port, go to eat, and browse many artists and vendors set up with their work on the cobblestones. Loved visiting!

Another great stay

Reviewed By Hawkins1021

Have stayed here with various size groups over the last 4 years. Recently stayed with a group of 26 for 4 nights. Excellent stay as always. Rooms are comfortable and cleaned daily. Has adequate generator so Power and A/C reliable. Food for breakfast is high quality and plentiful. Our group also had buffet dinners nightly which were very good quality. Always have cold prestige and sodas at the end of the day. Jean and his staff work very hard to make your stay pleasant. This is our favorite place to stay in Gonaives.
