Reviewed By MenonsIt is in the midst of the city. The room is good, though a bit crowded. The AC fitted is just adequate to reduce the temperature a bit, though this is under sized. The room had mosquito and small cockroaches roaming . Seeing this and the darker inside of the room we, did not dare to take dinner here, though this was paid for. The bath room had a leaky WC. This filled the room floor with water by morning. There is only a head shower, hence taking bath without wetting your head is a task. They do not give shower caps, buckets or mugs. The bed is placed at a height and people with small stature will find to climb onto the bed. Only a thin bed sheet is given as a blanket. There is a tea/coffee bar, with inadequate supply.Feel this is meant for one person only. The foyer and lift landing area is dark after 10 pm. It was difficult for us to walk through the unlit foyer and take the lift in the dark surroundings. The service is bad too. It takes more than 45 minutes for a request to responded, though they may not be fulfilled. The WiFi, though proclaimed boldly on the key chain, does not work. The notification comes asking us to go near the rooter, extender to connect to the WiFi. On complaining, they said this is all they could do. We could not get the TV connected too. At night there was a constant jumping/knocking from the room above, which prevented us to sleep peacefully. At midnight there was also banging of the doors, which woke us up. Over all a very disappointing stay, in one of the prime cities of the world.

Reviewed By anabN7242JVOne can only start with.. OMG! Yes, this is the reaction you will have when you enter. This place is breathtaking. Beautifully, tastefully, amazingly breathtaking. And I’m not even talking about the view but just the place per se. I staid there for 5 nights but I could easily live there. One can not find one single thing that is not 5 star perfect; from decorations to furniture and not to mention spotless cleanliness. The room I staid in is connected to the huge and (almost) 360° view balcony. I spent my late evenings there just observing all Colombo under me. No noise, just big city lights of the capital of Sri Lanka. I spent the mornings looking at the ocean. Ohh.. almost forgot; the place is so high (16th floor) that there are no mosquitos. Woo hoo! ;) Seriously, an unforgettable experience in a magical place owned by kind (not fake kind to be precise) and very helpful people. The lady helped me with everything; restaurants, shops, hairdresser, taxi, etc. Needless to say, this is my place for every time I will be visiting Colombo. ps: I didnt take any pics cos I was making videos.

Beautiful, rustic built accommodation with the most amazing staff you can come across. The owner of the establishment mans the desk and together with his wife caters to all your needs. They provided us with exceptional breakfast every morning, a perfectly balanced mix between Sri Lankan and Japanese cuisine. Definitely worth it.

Reviewed By Nick CHomely, if a little shabby, but this tends to be the norm in Sri Lanka. The three guys that run the place have mediocre English skills, but are exceptionally helpful. For better communications, wait for Lasantha (their friendly tuk-tuk driver) to turn up. We loved our stay there.

The place is only 500 meters walk to the lovely Mt Lavinia beach and the same distance to the main Road where all the shops,restaurants and supermarkets are and the buses going to Colombo and I would say, transport in Sri Lanka is one of the best in the world, if not for the comfort but for the frequency!!! UNBELIEVABLE Do not expect luxuries here, but everything, that one needs is in the room,nothing is missed.

Reviewed By DonaldshivaThis holiday house was incredible! From the moment we arrived to when we left, we felt completely at home with the hospitality and kindness that was shown to us. Janaki and Kithy truly do know how to host! My partner and I stayed here for 3 weeks while we were working at Kalubowila. We wished we could have stayed for longer, that's how much we enjoyed it! Comfortable beds, A/C in rooms, cleaning service provided every 3 days, free and fast wi fi (we were able to watch plenty of NetFlix), flatscreen TV, security safe, shared kitchenette facilities with utensils provided. And all this for LKR 3,500 per night!! We felt incredibly safe in Janaki's home, partly because of the physical barriers (there's a high brick wall and CCTV footage) and because of Janaki and her family's presence. Her caretakers, Samy, Rani & Poohenedran went to every effort to ensure our comfort, including making us breakfast every morning (for LKR 350 rupees per person), to ensuring we had plenty of water, to making sure that we were using the most cost effective methods of transport to and from work. It was an incredible 3 weeks staying at Aurora Holiday House, and we will definitely be staying here again next time we are in Colombo! Thank you Janaki!!

Reviewed By DanielBris1982We only stayed for one night on our last night in Sri Lanka, location was good, close to beach, easy walking distance to train or bus stops. Main road has shops and food out lets and was close by. The place it's self may not look pretty and could do with some paint and a tidy up but staff are friendly and the place is comfortable, there is a nice common area with an out door deck with chairs and tables and even a shared fridge/freezer. Not the best value for money place we stayed in on our 2 week trip but overall pretty good.

Reviewed By Thomas HWhen we are in Mounth Lavinia we always stay here. Tinesh help us with al lot of things to arrange everything/solve small problems. This is a nice hotel. Sightseeing with beachview is amazing. Breakfast and dinner is excellent. Service by the swimming pool is good. All nice people and Tinesh thanks for all.
