Reviewed By Sightsee771288Very happy here! Views were stunning. Staff was incredible and transportation charges they organized were fair. The compost toilet took a little getting used to and the smell wasn't unbearable but if it's the kind of thing that bothers you ask for a flush toilet.

La Urraca Loca is a beautiful new hostel located in Balgue (Ometepe Island, Nicaragua), on the slopes of Maderas volcano. You will feel close to the local people and next to the forest. Fully secure area. Quiet area to enjoy your well-deserved rest. You can walk to local shops and restaurants. Two minutes from the bus stop.

Reviewed By 246wimdThe place is really nice. Quit, clean and everything works properly. The owners are very friendly and enthousiastic, and eager to help. They know a lot of the island. I felt very comfortable. Shared kitchen, but also possible to order breakfast, lunch, or dinner (pasta) here. Recommendation!

We loved the manicured gardens and the comfortable, spacious and well appointed rooms. Our bathroom even had views of Volcan Concepcion! It was also very convenient having a kitchen available for guests to use. A water filtration system is available in the kitchen for guests to use. Breakfast was included in the room rate and we really enjoyed having a delicious breakfast while looking out at views of Volcan Concepcion each morning. The breakfasts here were among the best we had on Ometepe Island. There are a couple of dogs that live on the property and these dogs can be quite aggressive towards guests and bark a lot, particularly if guests return to the property after dark. I get nervous around dogs so I did not feel entirely comfortable during our stay here. If you have no issues with dogs you should be fine, but if you are like me and are nervous around dogs then I’d suggest finding somewhere else to stay.

Reviewed By NemoH1Was blown away by this place. The owners are super responsive on WhatsApp with all the questions I had. They set up an ATV for me right at the ferry which really made my trip. And they have thought of everything in the rooms. A bottle of wine in case you’d like to buy one, a bar where you can buy soda or beer, and two order in food menus where you can get delivery in case you’d like to stay predominantly in your cabin. Additionally the place is just so special. Right in the jungle and surrounded by nature, with screens so you can hear the jungle all the time. Will be staying here every time I come to ometepe! 10/10

Reviewed By jadeb174We spent four nights here and absolutely loved it. Megan and Nemer were so helpful and accommodating with everything we needed. We loved their dogs, the fresh fruit and the howler monkeys. The entire staff was very nice. We enjoyed having breakfast in the kitchen and planning out our days. The cabins were very well maintained and so much fun to sleep in. The views of the volcano were amazing! We will definitely be back!!!

Reviewed By 42ManuelaI first wrote an e-mail without receiving any reply. After two days I decided to pop in anyway without any booking and I was happy to see that the Finca was working. I was offered a simple private room with double bed, very clean bedsheets and towel, mosquito net and fan which I didn't use : 8 usd. incl. good breakfast. I had dinner twice and it was tasty with an excellent watermelon juice, all for 150 córdobas. The Finca is very clean and so are the showers and bathrooms. Wifi working well. The place is one km up from the road and is nicely quiet. I stayed 3 nights : the first two nights we were only 2 tourists, the third we were 4. On Sunday I climbed Volcán Maderas with one guide, 3 hours 20' to go up and more to come down ! 8 hours in total, unfortunately the crater lake was covered by fog. The day after I rented a bicycle in the village and went to kayak in the río Istian, 8 km from Balgüe. The 26 families working for this cooperative really deserve your support as they also clean and prepare the path through the jungle up to the volcano.

Reviewed By lovin2015We had a lovely time at Finca ometepe. We were well taken care of and the place is just beautiful! Flowers and birds all around and cute baby goats. You find nice resturants nearby. We really recommend this place and Ometepe is a wonderful island to explore!

Very disappointed
Reviewed By Ismay20They literally had nothing on the menu (and we arrived early not at the end of the day). We tried to order 5 things and all of it was “not available” Everything we tried to order they said they didn’t have and they didn’t seem to care at all. Especially after driving a long way to get here. View was good and the one thing we could have was nice. Heard good things from other people but personally had a poor experience. Very disappointed when it is so highly recommended.
