Horse Whispers

We are located on a 2000 hectare Bushveld property, owned by the Sandford community trust. Horse Whispers is a company that offers a wide variety of horse trails. The well-being and future of these horses is dependent on the income from horse trails and donations. Most of these horses came from foster homes and were field horses fairly familiar to human interaction, some did not trust humans at all and others had no understanding of personal space. The training of these horses consisted of halter work, trusting and respecting humans, desensitization exercises, groundwork, preparing for a rider, backing and riding away with a safe, confident horse! Today, these horses able to play a significant role in brighting the lives of underprivileged children. The program teach more than just riding; children develop life skills such as self-confidence, responsibility and discipline – and can have a positive impact on academic performance too. Join us for an unforgettable horse riding experience through the Hazyview bushveld with an en-route stop to meet 6 majestic African Elephants.Or go on a breathtaking ride alongside the river and through the hills leads to an idyllic picnic site in a secluded valley. Enjoy your lunch in the shaded canopy provided by the indigenous Matumi trees. Participate in a cattle drive which is a cattle round up on the Sandford Reserve, where a small number of cattle are located and gathered and moved to the nearest water source. The cattle are moved at a walk, any faster than a walk and you run the fat off them, most unwelcomed by any farmer. There is some faster work occasionally to retrieve runaways. We also offer 30 min, one hour and two hour bush outrides.

Horse Whispers made horse riding fun and enjoyable. Booking was easy and communication was proper. The staff was amazing and humble. Received brief training on horse riding and the coach was very patient. Maneuvered for a whole hour through the bush trail and the experience was ecstatic. Went through a valley, water puddle, thick bush, a slope - it was just so beautiful. Cherry on top - had great conversations with the guide all way! Loved it

Dullstroom Horse Riding Centre

Exploring Dullstroom on horseback was one of our highlights in visiting the quaint, little town. Alwin and Illanthe were the perfect hosts and surprised us with sherry on the top of the hill and good company all the way. The horses are well-trained and even a horse riding newbie like me could easily manage with their guidance. It truly was a treat and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Dullstroom. As it was mid-Winter, it was quite dry, so I can only imagine how spectacular it will be in Summer.
