1. Madakaripura Waterfall

From the parking area, you need to rent a motorcycle to get to the entrance (costs 10,000 IDR one way). Then from the entrance gate to the Waterfalls, you need to walk for approx. 1km uphill which is quite tiring.
There is an option of hiring a local guide who will help you walk you through the Waterfalls and take some pictures of you (costs 100,000 IDR on top of motorcycle and entrance fees) but for me, this is worth it.
It is a series of Waterfalls. And to move from 1 point to another can be quite difficult. Sometimes you need to climb and hang on the side cliffs to move to another point to view the other Waterfalls. This is the part where the local part would be very useful.
Raincoat and a particular waterproof case for your camera is a must. You will need to walk under some of the Waterfalls.
If you bring other electronic devices, you should rent a locker few meters before the Waterfalls.
Despite all the difficulties and hassles, it was really a uniquely nice experience. The views are breath-taking and you can take some really nice pictures there.

My driver asked if I'd like to see the island as we had time to spare. Great suggestion. For a westerner it was really interesting.
Caught a local ferry boat with wooden deck and shade cover. You waited on deck until it filled the headed off on a 50min crossing. We loaded people, bamboo, eggs, rice, etc. Cost Rp 10 000 each way.
The island is visible from shore, white sand beach. Padded other boats as well as off shore jetties and seabirds. Relatively smooth crossing.
The island itself is circumnavigable by foot. Friendly locals, 2 mosques, cat shrine, caves to see. Super hot- sunscreen and a hat essential.
Lots of goats!
Lots of trash unfortunately.
Fascinating experience for me.

We went to a warung nearby to have lunch. Pricey. The beach was just 5mins behind the warung. Nothing special. White-Black sand, with trash along the beach. Touts were trying to get us to use their services for Water Sports. We were on the beach for barely 5mins when we decided to leave. Not worth the trip unless you are right smack in the vicinity.

First visit when we were heading back from Banyuwangi to Surabaya. You can easily found the spot "Wisata Pantai Bentar" on the right side.
There are a long bridge above the sea, and one of the bridge is heading to the mangrove forest but we cannot get further to the forest. Just a small one.
Also you can find a small zoo, with deer, birds etc. some birds are free fly outside the cage and kids and very happy to run after the birds.
The wooden bridge are well maintained, clean also the gazebos on every corner.
This tourism spot is closed at 6 PM. Ticketing booth closes at 5PM. We only need to pay Rp.5000/person/visit

Meski punya nama resmi Taman Wisata Studi Lingkungan kalau bertanya ke masyarakat lokal lebih mengenal sebagai Kebon Binatang. Memang saat dimasuki suasanana lebih mirip kebun binatang (dalam ukuran mini). Ukurannya memang tidak seberapa luas. Cukup kagum dengan pengelolannya (sepertinya pemkot setempat) dengan mengutip tiket masuk Hanya Rp.5.000 pengunjung sudah bisa menikmati. Padahal biaya perawatannya pasti tidak murah. Apalagi saya melihat ada seekor Singa Santan jadi penghuninya. Sayangnya kandang tidak terlalu besar sehingga satwa ini seperti "tersiksa".. Moga2x bisa disediakan kandang yang lebih lapang.

Lokasi tenang, indah, dingin, nyaman, pas dikantong (hanya perlu bayar parkir). Ada fasilitas permainan airnya juga. Danaunya bagus banget tapi sayang akses jalan untuk menuju tempat ini kurang bagus.

It was my 3rd visit here.
And I ask my family join with me. The scenery never disappoint you. You will found a huge lake, I think it was the second largest lake in Probolinggo after Ranu Agung (correct me if I was wrong). You can play around and can go along the lake with boat.

Après un montée scabreuse en jeep à 3 heures du matin, rien de tel qu'un petite demi-heure de marche pour atteindre LE point de vue. Et là, l'attente commence. Le jour se met à poindre gentiment à l'est, jusqu'à ce que le soleil se montre et nous laisse deviner sur notre droite les majestueux volcans Bromo et Semeru. Spectacle grandiose et saisissant!
