James Chabot Provincial Park

They hadn't quite opened the parking lot when we were there just before Easter, so there were no throngs. But there was parking nearby and we were able to check it out anyway. It's a great place for family picnics and fun, with lots of picnic tables, a nice beach area, and playground. The views across the lake are stunning. Must-see if you're spending some time in the area!

Windermere Valley Museum

A large amount of local history and memorabilia. Well laid out and very interesting. A large variety of collected items from numerous families. It is not huge so it does not take very long to go through but definitely interesting if you like history. No admission cost - donations only. Front desk lady was very knowledgeable about the museum and the local area.

Pynelogs Cultural Centre and Art Gallery

Reviewed By missouri2010 - Calgary, Canada

this is an interesting experience. You can sit on the deck and watch the people enjoy the beach while enjoying your "fresh" food or you can dine inside and enjoy the latest array of local artists work. It changes and has special events. The place is not always open and I think it's actually closed on Sundays so make sure you get a lunch in there on a day it is open as it is really interesting. It's located next to a "pond" where there are turtles and they have information boards on them - it's a great stroll after you've had your lunch

Comfortable and inviting as soon as you step in the door. Seems to always be something terrific in this gallery even if you are just browsing. Nice to take ones time and enjoy the work of such a group of talented artists. Highly recommend a visit when in Invermere. Ski in the morning and spend the late afternoon in the village and the gallery is right on the main street and easy to find..

Swansea Mountain Recreation Site

Reviewed By BenLar137 - Calgary, Canada

While not far from the highway, getting to the base of Swansea Mountain does require several "lefts and "rights" on good roads so to speak, so check the website for exact directions. But once there, you'll be glad you did if you're in any way an outdoorsy type. When the snow goes, you can drive quite close the summit, making it only a 1 km return walk. But the views are nothing less than spectacular. So spectacular, one of the users of this summit are local paragliders! But we always have started from the first parking area, and so for us the route to the top and back is around 12 km's. This is one of the area's best mountain biking hills, with stunning curvy trails and amazing jumps. The hiking trails do inter-weave a bit, but the area is VERY well marked, thanks to the local mountain biking community. And you don't have to get to the top for super views, just take the first hiking trails to the lower bluffs. This is a great area for family recreation!
