Kates Berry Farm

Reviewed By Peter K

We stopped and had coffee and cake.
Cake was a touch pricey and while it was good the ice cream (made there) was the standout element.
Jams etc. are available for tasting as well and plenty of products for sale including chocolate.
Grab a table outside as the view is lovely (see pic).

The Bark Mill Tavern & Bakery

Dropped in for a snack this morning. Ordered a croissant, lemon-ginger tea and a flat white. The croissant was nice though it was supposed to be served with "hazelnut chocolate" whereas we were given Nutella. The tea was nice but the flat white was pathetic.

Great value quality meals in a family friendly atmosphere

We tried to get a bistro meal at the local RSL. It looks like the bistro is only open at night. Disappointing given the other options in town. Could be a good revenue raiser for them to look at weekend lunchtime meals.

Piermont Restaurant

Multi-Award winning restaurant with ocean views over looking great Oyste bay and Freycinet National park. The menu features a strong emphasis on the highest quality Tasmanian ingredients, and the wine list features a hand picked selection of Tasmania’s finest wines.

As we were staying at the hotel we had dinner to celebrate my father's birthday. At first we were given a table in the middle of the restaurant, without views, even though we were staying. The food was OK but nothing special. When we asked for another bread roll we were informed it might not be possible as they didn't know if they had cooked enough, a bit of a shame when you are paying $80 for a three course meal!

Stopped for dinner on the way to Coles Bay. There are limited options in Swansea. We had a beef burger $9.90 with no chips, spaghetti bolognese $19.00 and seafood basket for two at $35. The food was nice but not very large portions especially for the price.

What a relief to discover this arty cafe, after having paid $5 for a coffee at our accommodation. The coffee was superb and was very reasonably priced too, how refreshing. We also enjoyed a little breakfast here, a simple egg and bacon panini with yummy tomato relish.
They play great music and the staff are a real delight. I hope they hurry and open up in the evenings too, as I believe it will add a fabulous choice for us tourists and no doubt the loyal locals too.
Be sure to not miss this place.

Sophie's

Located at the cellar door of the award winning vineyard Milton on Tasmania's East Coast, Sophie's restaurant offers a French approach to Tasmanian produce.

We visited yesterday for lunch at 1pm. The wine and wine staff were just lovely.
However we were disappointed by the lack of food choices left. There was only one main meal left and a cheeseboard.
The other couple of choices were entree.
I don’t think that at lunch time in the busy East Coast, a kitchen should run out of food.
