Reviewed By filishiaThere is a cupboard near the reception with Japanese style bathrobe/light kimono/YUKATA and clearly written "for free rent". We do double confirm with the staff these light kimono is free to be rent, and he said yes. Then we also take away the wodden slipper to take a few photo (even it does not fit at all), and the staff watch us take the wodden slipper without say anything. During check out, the staff suddenly present us a bill, and said the wooden slipper cost us 4000 yen EACH. First, we do ask in advance the light kimono is free to be rent. If the wooden slipper is not free, the staff should voice out clearly. However the staff only watch us take that without saying anything. Secondly, there does not have any price show in the cupboard, neither the box of the wodden slipper. The staff emphasis as we already "wear it" we need to pay. Is it totally not fair to pay for a product we do not know the price in advance. Since we need to continue our journey, we do not argue with the staff and pay the bill and leave. Leaving with a very bad impression in this hotel.

An interesting hotel for sure

Went during early November 2019, off season though which was good as there were not many people staying there. Staff was ever so helpful and friendly. Rooms were spacious, good spread for breakfast buffet and also car park. It was nearby an outdoor foot spa, souvenir shops and places to eat as well. We enjoyed our stay there for sure.

Reviewed By kmzhaoIt’s 5 min walk from the JR station and there are a few nice restaurants nearby. But it’s 290yen one way away from the sleepy onset town. The hotel is clean, with indoor and outdoor hot spring. With this price, I’m happy with what they offer. You may add breakfast and dinner extra with a bit more than 500 and 1600yen respectively. I tried their shrimp curry rice. Not bad. It’s 800yen.

Cosy ryokan close to nature
Reviewed By KaK341We stayed two nights, one of which we were the only couple staying there. Owners were lovely and their hospitality made us feel like staying at a friend’s place. They even gave us a nice souvenir for our honeymoon. Japanese breakfast was delicious and authentic. Taking baths in the open air onsen was very relaxing.

Reviewed By tav_mindNicely located on Lake Kussharo although opportunities for an evening stroll were scotched by threat of bears! The place is comfortable and clean. Lovely big hot bath. Very friendly staff who provided very good half board.
