Cyherbia

CyHerbia gardens and nature park is situated in the village of Avgorou, and includes a beautifully landscaped herb garden, laid out into 9 different themes, a lavender meditation labyrinth, a woodland area with the endemic trees and shrubs of Cyprus, and the first and only maze (2000 sq.m.) of the island. There is a shop with our own organic herbal products and a tea room overlooking the gardens, where light lunches, cakes and a large selection of teas are prepared fresh every day.

A most beautiful place to go. So welcoming with the most beautiful plants, wildlife and lovely herbal products and delicious food. We visit every time we come to Cyprus and I am only sorry we will not make it this year to see the albino hedgehog. We did see the rescued ones a few years ago.

Troodos Botanical Garden

Just returned from visiting family and found this on our way up the Ski Centre at the top of the Troodos mountains on the road from the highway near Limassol. This site was originally an old asbestos mine going back over 100 years and the government has been returning the site back to the natural landscape in an ambitious project over many years. You can really see their hard work coming through. Beautifully laid out with pools and streams and all the native trees and plants clearly labelled. They have converted the old schools house into a visitors centre with good public facilities. No café or shops just peaceful. Great information leaflets in Greek and English. Amazing views. Definitely worth the stop.

Pano Akourdaelia Herb Garden

Pano Akourdaleia herb garden is the home to resident herbalist Caroline Evans and her business Heaven on Earth Herbals. Originally the old village school house and playground, the building and garden was fixed by the Laona project using a European grant in the early to mid 1990's, although since then it was not looked after as was intended. The garden has the same name as the small church across the road called 'Chrysseleoussa' literally meaning Golden Gift of which it now is to the village as Herbalist Caroline Evans has revived and replanted the herb garden and brought the life back to the village. Nowadays a small coffeeshop serves herbal teas, healthy drinks and gluten free cakes is onsite of the beautiful herb garden along with a working apothecary and herb shop. Caroline is on hand to answer your health needs and provide full consultations. These days workshops learning about your body, herbal teas and coffee mornings are run as well as group tours and the hugely successful and enjoyable monthly Farmers Market (1st sunday). Summer opening hours (1st April-31st Oct) Tuesdays until Sundays 10am-5pm and Winter opening hours (1st Nov-31st March) Wednesdays-Sundays 9am-4pm.
