In 1571 the canal flowing through the city, was built the first Polish waterworks tower called the water tower. He built it imported from Wroclaw murator Stanislaus.Inside the tower housed a device made by a Wrocław bucket rurmistrza Valentine Hendel. This bricked water tower from 16th century is basically the first important sight in Frombork, when you enter the town. No one visits Frombork for water tower, but it became first point on our tour, and what a point it was. We didn't expect that, to be so good. It started with a car parking spaces, which is a bit of a struggle in Frombork, with lots of them around dissused railway station, but we thought it is too far, for a small town such Frombork. So the place around the tower became a good choice for us. And as soon as we parked up for the day, we discovered book shop at the bottom of the tower. Appart from large selection of books (we bought one from the series about Pan Samochodzik - Mr Vehicle..., who solved criminal riddles related to works of art, and one book of the series was about Frombork), they sell tickets for the tower, and for few quid one can challenge themselfs on endless staircases... They even gave us good quality binoculars to enjoy the panorama. And when we got down eventually, we stayed for a breather at the coffee place they also run. And the view from the tower is beautiful, with huge cathedral complex on one side, and the Vistula Bay on the other. Great and unexpected start to our Frombork experience.

Large bricked church, located at fortified hill in Frombork, dating back to mid 14th century. Entrance to the church from the courtyard, which is the main place in whole Frombork. Tickets are sold at the entry porch (tickets to the Bell Tower or Radziejowski tower are also sold here). Monumental interior includes about 20 altars, with the main one form 18th century. This is the place, where Nicolaus Copernicus was buried - for the first time soon after his death, and then again in 2010, after the rediscovery of his remains. The biggest attraction of its own are pipe organs, so it is worth every effort to stay in the cathedral long enough to experience an pipe organ concert (few times a day, tue-sun may-september, hours on cathedral web site). The whole cathedral hill (or castle hill for some) is closed for motorised traffic. Car parks are located at the bottom of the hill, close to the port. Frombork is a very small town, so those furthest car parking spaces are only dew minutes walk away. Cathedral hill in Frombork is inscrbed onto a list of Pomnik historii (historic monuments list) - highest recognition in Poland for heritage buildings - since the very beginning of that list, in 1994.

The tower is part of the complex but free standing. The challenge of the spiral staircase is worth it. The view is your reward. Foucault pendulum - they are so rare to see! -is another attraction of this place.
