Reviewed By garyb545An innkeeper elsewhere in Uruguay suggested that I stay at Hotel Nirvana, and I am glad that I did. As a visiting birder, I found the extensive gardens especially enjoyable, what with all the various birds foraging there. The room was large and comfortable, and the restaurant served me an excellent Swiss-style sausage dinner, as well as a sumptuous breakfast.

Highly recommended restaurant by locals but only average service and food
Reviewed By Teramo48Four of us stopped here for a late lunch. The building/restaurant is attractively decorated in a Swiss manner. Service was OK but slowish, not that I'm expecting the American kind which I abhor. We started out with a nice cheese fondu--haven't had this in ages! Everyone else in our party got a large hunk of meat for their lunch and seemed to be happy with their selections--beef and pork. Unfortunately I was not too hungry and got Swiss gnocchi (really spaetzle) with tomato sauce. The spaetzle was good but I should have ordered it with butter and cheese; the tomato sauce tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. The wine was good.

Reviewed By Qldgirl1Stayed here for a night in November 2013 whilst travelling around Uruguay for 2 weeks. This accommodation appears to be in a quiet location but the road outside is quite busy with trucks and noisy bikes. Our room was up a set of extremely steep steps so we were glad we did not bring our heavy suitcases inside the building. This access is not suitable for those who are mobility impaired. The double bedroom is of a good size. There was an air con. No fridge or television. There was some storage for clothes. Bathroom was a decent size with toilet, bidet and a shower that worked well. There is a dining room and I was advised that evening meals were served from 9 pm - 11.30 pm. This was a bit late for us so we walked down the street to the Granja Suisse Hotel (that we had stayed at on a previous visit to Uruguay) for dinner in their restaurant (open 8pm). Breakfast was included in the price of 1700 pesos and was nothing out of the ordinary. Simple continental. The outside grounds of Posad Ofelia were undtidy and it seemed like a lot more could have been done to spruce up the place. The yard and pool were not very inviting. There was some oniste parking at least. Two things that were not very impressive: The white coverlet on the bed appeared to have a fresh blood stain on it and other stains (e.g. a large grass stain). The shutters and windows (no screens) were all open on arrival and as a consequence there were mosquitos in the room. I would not stay here again.

Reviewed By cade86uruFuimos en invierno por un compromiso familiar. Las instalaciones del hotel están correctas. El desayuno es abundante, aunque no muy variado. Tiene un jardín al fondo con piscina que debe ser disfrutable en verano. Staff amigable. Puede ser un poco ruidoso. En términos generales, bien. El ambiente natural que lo rodea es muy bonito.
