Beautiful view, far away from the town
Reviewed By kthernehillWe stayed in this hotel as part of an Intrepid group tour. It is situated away from town, and has spectacular views, and a lovely area of land, some of which is overgrown. The rooms are very spacious, with comfortable beds, and the bathroom is fine. There is a large pool, and plenty of space to sit around the pool, and there is an area where food is served, and groups can meet up. Unfortunately, we felt that although this hotel is good for groups, as they have a means of transport, it would not really suit independent travellers, as they would be quite isolated, unless they came on a motorbike. We had two meals in the hotel, and were very disappointed – some of the least appetising and satisfying food we were served in Central America, and quite expensive. One of our group complained and was told she didn’t need to pay for the food, but we had already paid, so we just left it. We went on a few good tours from the hotel, and one of the tour guides who picked us up pointed out a Green Vine snake near the car parking area, and one of our group saw a tarantula on the path near the rooms, so do be careful. The hotel space is very beautiful, but there is a lot of land, which is difficult to keep clear. I probably wouldn’t stay there again, but if you want to get away from it all and spend time in a beautiful place with few people around, this would suit you.

The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond, especially with Covid precautions. The food was also delicious. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Ometepe!

A Calm and Peaceful Interlude
Reviewed By vintagepaperWe stayed with Oscar at Miraflores for four nights. The hotel is down a long driveway and is at the top of the beach. At the back is reception and a breakfast area. The accommodation is two long rows of rooms with stunningly beautiful flowering shrubs in between. This leads into a gated terrace right in front of the water with a cooling breeze off the lake. There are rockers and hammocks and tables and chairs. The whole vibe of the place is tranquility. Breakfast was included but we have no idea if that was standard. The staff were friendly and helpful and the beds comfortable. We lazed around for a few days and enjoyed the beach. Ojo de Agua is about 6 km away which is well worth a visit. If you need a guide for walking volcanos or anything else ask Oscar for Carlos, a young man with good english, a great sense of humour and honesty and sincerity oozing out of his pores. We moved from Miraflores to Oscar’s finca, El Porvenir another little paradise. It sits at one of the trail heads to hike Volcan Maderas. Thanks for your kindness Oscar!
