The oyster market is a highlight in Cancale and it is understandable. The oysters one can buy here are very fresh and taste especially good eaten just on the stairs nearby. It is really a special atmosphere, eating them with the salty water inside, throwing the shells back into the water. Coming at the particular times, at the low tide, one can also see the oyster farms in the harbour. Really a very peacefull and atmospheric place

Malouiniere de la Ville-Bague

malouinières are a type of noble houses of the 18th century built within twelve miles of saint malo (brittany, france), by shipowners.la ville bague offers you a 1.5 hours tour, including park, chapel, dovecot and lounges, dinning room and lobby.by visiting an authentic house of privateers, you will discover a peaceful place just a few kilometers from saint malo.

A beautifully furnished country home belonging to wealthy ship-owners and privateers during the 17th and 18th centuries, La Ville-Bague is magnificent, and the grounds are gorgeous – a wonderful way to complete a visit to St. Malo, whose wealth was built from this swashbuckling period in history.
We were bowled over with our tour led by owner Marie-Helen, so gracious (despite having hosted a wedding the evening prior to our visit, and a luncheon right after our tour), she was genuinely delighted to see Americans interested in what is a family passion that began with her father – to recreate the bounty of arms, antiques, and treasures from the 17th and 18th centuries. We saw scrimshaw whale teeth, and objects made of ivory (such as playing dice and carved, ornate canes), sterling silver and gold dishes, swords, in addition to the main attractions, including the restored historic Panorama wallpaper depicting Pizarro’s appearance among the Incas. Of great interest was the captain’s desk outfitted with hidden compartments for precious jewels so as to avoid declaring it to the King or paying tax on it. Visiting La Ville Bague rounds out the history of St. Malo and Marie-Hélène is a delight.
Highly recommend! I look forward to returning again next summer.

Karting de Saint-Malo

Reviewed By Neatham - UK

The track is fun and challenging, the karts are fast, the staff are friendly, and there is a cafe and outside Seating so spectators also enjoy their visit. It takes about 30 minutes to cycle from St Malo on a slow rental bike and the scenery on the way there is lovely. Opening times are available on the web site, and our email query was promptly replied to.

Les Remparts de Saint-Malo

Reviewed By Susan B - Hythe, United Kingdom

We were on a special festive mini cruise organised by our local English marina and after driving to Dinard ( Xmas market), lunch at the port of Dinan we decided to park by the Vauban marina and take a half walk around the ramparts rather than experiences the cobbles and the crowds of the city.
It is easy walking along the ramparts. There are various access stairs and the views over the sea are great.
It was a wintery day but it was popular and most people were well wrapped up and even 1 person was swimming in the open air sea swimming pool ( the week before Xmas with predicted force 10 winds due!)
It was good to hear local carol singers and see the Winter ice rink in action too.
The day was only spoilt by the local dockers who decided at lunch time to strike and we could not board our ship Brittany Ferries’ Pont Aven for our journey home and our special ore Xmas meal.

Plenty car parking and nearby motorhome parking then a short walk past a good restaurant to the headland viewpoint. As you travel south the shallows create azure blue strips in the sea, blending with the deeper dark areas and sandbanks. Walking and cycle tracks up the coastline pass the oyster beds and rinsing sheds which have earned this area the reputation as Oyster Capital of France.

Chemin de Ronde

Reviewed By Yaling S - Denver

We were there the first time with not so low tide, we tried some outstanding oysters and seafood, did not really feel that different. The following day we stopped by to have seafood tower, it was absolutely low tide and the oyster farm lay exposed and it is miles into the ocean. That was something you could not imagine and we walked around in the farm between the oyster bass and trackers! Wonderful experience.
