Terrible. Don't go
Reviewed By VanodyaPThis is the worst place I have ever been to. We stayed at Trinco for 2 nights and traveled to Polonnaruwa and had to stay in Polonnaruwa because we got a bit late. This is the only place that we could find last minute. The pictures look very nice for the price, so we made a reservation. We got the VIP room because that is the only one left. The room was terrible. The bathroom stank when we first enter. The toilet paper roll was green in color with fungus. Also, there was a frog in the bathroom. We complained and they cleaned it again. But they clearly didn't know how to clean a bathroom properly. We actually thought of finding another place but we stayed here as it was very late. We couldn't stay inside as the room was not clean so we spent some time outside the room. That's when this terrible incident happened. There was a big family of about 10 people with kids. They also had complained about the cleanliness of the rooms. (Obviously) Suddenly a person in black came (sounded like the owner and looked like a drunk politician) and started a fight with the family about complaining about the room. The fight went for about half an hour and he asked the family to leave. The family left as soon as possible. This is such a terrible place. Don't go unless you need this kind of drama.

Reviewed By naveenr532Very nice place to stay and visit in Polonnaruwa area. Owner and his wife managed the property. Absolutely real hospitality. Very silent environment and we can see lots of birds in their garden. Foods are very delicious and price are reasonable...

Amazing stay, food is superb!!!
Reviewed By Georgina FWe had a lovely stay here for one night, it's in a lovely location and it had everything we needed! The rooms are lovely and spacious and clean, and the aircon was the best we've had on our whole trip around Asia. The owners husband is also an elephant safari guide and he took us out as soon as we arrived in the afternoon where we saw so many elephants in the national park and so close, it was fantastic. The real highlight though was the food and the service, it was so delicious and so nice to have some real Sri Lankan home cooked foods! We had lunch, dinner and breakfast and wish we could have stayed for longer just to try some more. Thanks for having us!!

Friendly and hospitable hosts
Reviewed By Arja KWe had a short stay at Jayaru guest house and found the room to be extremely clean and comfortable. There is a choice of aircon and non aircon rooms. Sunama Siri(the host) was available to provide transport and guiding to local sites and train station on our departure. We had some wonderful spontaneous interactions with some of the local people because we were with Sunama Siri. Overall a 5 star service.

Reviewed By Curiosity86777We can only recommend. Apart from having a great room. We were given a refreshing juice on arrival. Then their son did the extra mile to help us. The dad as well he show us the way on his motorcycle and the mom was given us so much info about sri lanka 's food. And the meals were so generous.

Rivonway Hotel is an excellent hotel and restaurant within the area situated in the middle of scenic paddy field, there is no shortage of choice to suit all tastes and budgets and tastefully furnished hotel with modern interiors and comfortable bedrooms, a 10 minutes ride away from Polonnaruwa ancient city and just 2 minutes’ ride away from Girithale tank. Its unique design influences provide high quality accommodation with A/C & NonA/C bedrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with television, WiFi facilities, hot water, tea and coffee making facilities.
Could be a whole lot better
Reviewed By gregorys585This place could be a whole lot better & there is so much that it doesn’t have but could. There are two queen size beds (quite comfortable) in my room, which is overkill, but only one chair, no hangers or storage cupboards. There is nowhere to put anything really apart from the floor. The power points are at least a meter off the ground so to charge your phone or camera is with some difficulty as there is no table suitable. The bathroom could be cleaner. There is no where to hang anything apart from one towel rack & there is no shelf to put your toiletries. The TV had poor reception, each channel was fuzz but there was nothing in English anyway. On the positive side the room did have a small outside sitting area with a good view overlooking rice paddies (though a mosquito coil would have been nice to deter them) and the room does have a fan and air con. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfasts, I chose Sri Lankan over the continental, was great. Would I stay here again? To be fair there are two answers here, ‘yes’ & ‘no’. Yes, if you only want somewhere to sleep for the night (4 out of 5stars). No, if you are here for more than one night since the room didn’t have what it took to be able to really relax in and be comfortable for more than a night (3 out of 5stars).

Once good, once bad!
Reviewed By Roli HFIRST OF ALL: THE NAME HERE IS WRONG!!!! IT'S CALLED ACACIA HOLIDAY INN We searched and found a good place for one night with reasonable price. The room No2 was spacious, nice and very clean. The woman who welcomed us was friendly and helpful and spoke good english. The price of 3500 SLR for an AC-Room was ok for the area. Unfortunately the restaurant which belongs to another family was closed. After an enjoyable night we made a reservation for one day later. When we came back another young woman was there, not very friendly and not good english. The room No2 was quite dirty this time. Only when we went to bed we discovered a lot of foreign hairs at the pillwo-cases and the bedcover.... We don't know which situation is normal...so far we don't recommend it!
