5 days at this lovely hotel

The hotel is beautifully designed - we had a lovely seaview villa with balcony looking directly over the beach. We swam every day in the clear water and saw a turtle ( and sea snakes) The service was outstanding and the staff look after your every need. A number speak very good English. We really enjoyed the excellent food in the restaurant - every night we were given a wonderful array of dishes. The chef accommodated my husband’s request for no meat with some fantastic vegetable and seafood dishes. We were encouraged to sample the local shochu “Amami rum” which was delicious. Thoroughly recommend this hotel for those wanting a chilled break.

Great location, fantastic staff

Reviewed By grodfot1

This hotel is right on the most beutiful beach of Yakushima. It's a bit off so you definitively need to rent a car to stay here. The rooms are ok for two, but small if you are more than that. The bed, as usual in Japan, was much to hard for me The bathroom is really small, but on the other hand, you are not there for the bathroom. The room, as well as the common areas are kept very clean. The service is really great. The women who runs the hotel only speaks japanese but they really try with Google translate to answer questions and explain things. The food is fantastic. Dinner is like 10 different japanese dishes and breakfast maybe 8. Also they tryed to adapt the menu somewhat when they saw that our daughter wanted a somewhat westernized menu. So this is of course important to know before you come here, the food is truly japanes. We love that. Not everyone does. The beach beutiful and right outside the room. Swimming is great, but not for small children as waves can get rather big and it gets deep as soon as you enter. There is some nice snorkeling just 100 meters to the right of the hotel. Very little corals but lots of different tropical fish. Turtles in big numbers come to nest on the beach and if you are lucky you might get to see that, or see the whils snorkeling. There are guided night tours on the beach for that purpose. The only thing we missed, as often is the case in japanese beach hotels, was sunchairs. Highly recommend this hotel, but think twice before you bring small children.

A quiet place to relax

Reviewed By JaysonLO

We were a group of five people, four adults and one baby. We went to that hot spring resort which is quite remote from the city. If you like to enjoy quiet environment and beautiful sea view, it is a right choice for you. We booked a sea view room in which we could see the sunset. Dinner and breakfast were included in our package. The Japanese style dinner never disappoints us. The squid sashimi was fresh and delicious. We couldn't finish the rice though. The buffet breakfast also exceeded our expectation. The natural hot spring was not large but there were not many guests. One thing I appreciated was that the staff were waving their big hands until they couldn't see us when we were leaving the hotel by the shuttle bus. They were really professional.

Perfect hide out resort in affordable price

Reviewed By Happytravelersolo

This resort is located to the north of Fukuoka, takes 15min ferry ride from either Hakata or Momochihama. Its not the top notch type but reasonably well maintained. Must try the Japanese restaurant, great quality in mid price range - lunch set at ¥1500. However Spa service is at 5-star Hotel rate with no facilities. Breakfast is great with varieties.

Very comfortable room, though it needed airing out when we got there

Reviewed By Mark E

I opted for an ocean view, and there was a great view with a small balcony and two comfortable beds. It was spacious and looked like it had recently been completely renovated. It did have an odor problem which required the considerable airing out the room once we got there, but it was almost unnoticeable thereafter. The resort has been around for awhile which I actually like, but if you're looking for something constructed in the last few years, that is not this resort. Having said that, renovations are actively going on and the restaurant was really pleasant with delicious food.

Lovely Seafront Motel-Good Value

Reviewed By Sophia Y

This is an absolutely lovely Seafront Motel. Special acknowledgment to Inone-san who made our first pit stop so welcoming because he spoke English and advised me well. Thank you very much! Just an advice...must book sea facing views and beds are super single and very comfortable with daily housekeeping of fresh sheets and towels...and waking up to sounds of lapping waves...is calming to the soul and mind...Brekkie is reasonable too and there aren't much options to dine outside for brekkie. Yes , the hotel needs refurbishments but else...an absolutely lovely get away from the city life.

これがグランピングか~

Reviewed By yakomura

Out of season hotel, close to Oita airport

Reviewed By Gwyn W

This is a 10-15min taxi ride from Oita airport (around ¥1,500 if I remember rightly). It struck me as an out of season tourist hotel for Japanese tourists. There is an outdoor pool, but no one seemed to be using it, not really the weather. To be fair it was 22:00ish when we arrived, but checkin was painless. The room was traditional tatami matting and bedding on the floor. There is an on-suite toilet and wash basin, but to shower you have to go to the communal Onsen (floor 2 i think). Red is for women, Blue for men - I guessed, correctly as it turned out. Not totally sure of the protocol, but if you intend entering the pool, shower before hand! Everyone goes 100% naked, no room for modesty here. Breakfast was interesting, using an app on my phone I asked if there was anything vegetarian. I was told it could be arranged but would take some time. Indeed a tray of 100% vegetarian food arrived from a waitress who couldn't have been more helpful. As the hotel is a way from the airport, and the airport itself 1hour+ from Oita city, the hotel arranged a taxi to the airport. We then got an efficient bus to Oita city centre. Like all the hotels during this trip (Sept/Oct 2019) the bathroom was small, modular but came equipped with a range of complimentary toiletries, razors, tooth brush etc. The shower was powerful and there were plenty of towels. Everything was very clean.
