The 10 best Lodges in Japan, Japan

May 4, 2023 Matilde Konrad

In the Land of the Rising Sun, ancient temples sit alongside neon wonderlands and shinto shrines offer pockets of peace amid metropolises. Add tea ceremonies, snow monkeys, sushi, kimonos, and karaoke to the mix, and you’ve got one of the world’s most fascinating countries.

Excellent for business and leisure travelers

I regularly use Sakura Hotel Nippori to do business as it has reliable wifi and great facilities. The cost is extremely reasonable and staff are helpful. The location is great, it's right in the heart of the trendy Yanesen district and very convenient for both Nippori and Sendagi stations, making it easy to get from Narita airport and travel around Tokyo. You can even visit Ueno park and its many museums on foot. The rooms are simple and clean. The restaurant has a wide variety of international cuisine and a great selection of world beers. I would equally recommend this to people traveling around Japan, or for those who need a teleworking base.

The rooms are compact, but incredibly well equipped and immaculately clean. The rooms have absolutely everything you need on your ski holiday: a fully equipped kitchen, a washer / dryer, quality linens on a comfortable bed and a great bathroom. The very best part of the Snow Dog Niseko is the reception staff, who are absolute stars: Knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. The location is absolutely perfect: Not too far from the lifts and close to the Black Diamond Lodge. I look forward to going back one day!

Best Hotel Experience In Niseko

Reviewed By LesterK491

Love this hotel so much. Hotel is nested just 2-3min drive away from the main village but you get see so much openness and space. Feels like you are living in the middle of the wild. Hotel is brand new and room are spacious with great amenities. Onsen (indoor and outdoor) and breakfast were a delight. The Japanese staff speaks perfect English (unlike other Japanese Hotel I stayed in where there was many communication issues). Everything was well sanalized and very very clean. I will be definitely returning next trip and staying here instead of the main village. Nishi-San and Horita-san were very helpful during our stay. I stayed from 11-13 Dec 2020.

365BASE Outdoor Hostel

~Enjoy outdoor Activity~ Hamamatsu is actually the second largest city in Japan. In the north, surrounded by deep mountains and clear streams you can enjoy the nature with mountain climbing and camping. In the south, faces Pacific Ocean, you have the chance to enjoy surfing and fishing. Because there are so many different environments spanning from north to south there are many attractive spots in Hamamatsu. With the concept of a "secret base" we want you to enjoy such activities in Hamamatsu. We offer a comfortable and stylish space to live the life in the "365BASE outdoor hostel". ~365BASE STORY~ In July 2015 we started as a share house with the concept of outdoor living near the Hamamatsu city center. There was a lawn space where camping and bouldering was possible and it was recognized as an unusual share house different from the ones already existing. We started establishing a guest house and innovative car sharing that took on the concept of the share house starting

Great home away from home

Reviewed By jacquelinevtr

This is more like a shared house than a hotel. Lots of character and a comfortable place to stay. We stayed in one of the double rooms. Clever storage, comfortable bed, kitchenette, private bathroom (half-size bath), small balcony and a washing machine. The shared space is quirkily kitted out as an indoor campsite and there is space to sit and work or just be both inside and out. Staff is very friendly. Take care not to arrive before 10.30 as there are no staff on duty until then. There is a convenience store within a few minutes walk, and the subway station a few minutes walk in the opposite direction making central Hamamatsu just 15 minutes away. We will definitely stay here again.

Feels like home

Reviewed By Danielr_adventures

I've stayed all over the Niseko area, and have yet to find a better place to come home to after riding all day. This year was my fourth year at Moiwa Lodge and I am consistently impressed. The staff consists of mostly native English speakers and a few really awesome Japanese locals. They are all always so incredibly cheerful and eager to help whenever they can.  Yukari, the superhero cook, makes huge breakfast every morning. Like a hotel breakfast but WAYY better! Four to five different types of homemade bread, plus eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, juices, loads of coffee. I usually didn't even need lunch after stuffing myself.  Dinners are between 1,000-1,500yen, reasonably priced and totally worth it. Yukari, again crushes it with a variety of authentic Japanese meals.  Nao, the bartender, is a backcountry guide during the day and has fantastic advice on where to ride if you need it. Or you can just walk up about 100 steps to the Moiwa lift and realize there's powder everywhere and no lift lines. From Moiwa you can also ride over to all the other resorts too so you never actually have to take a bus.  If you're a work-traveler like myself, there's plenty of spots to work from within the lodge. Internet usually works great except sometimes around dinner when everyone is at the lodge sucking data. Also the wifi in the dorm rooms on the bottom floor can be spotty. But when the rest of the lodge is so relaxing and comfortable, you really don't spend too much time in the dorms. Although the beds are quite comfy as well. The entire lodge is very well equip as well, from shampoo and laundry soap to backcountry gear rentals. It's clear that they've though of everything you could ask for. Overall Moiwa Lodge is, in my opinion, the definition of "great bang for your buck". Depending on the room(s) you book, it can be more expensive than other places in Niseko but 100% worth every penny (or yen). These people know how to run a lodge and make you feel very welcome.

My family of four of us stayed in this lovely, clean and comfortable place. It reminded me of motels in Australia and New Zealand. It has 2 large beds, comfortable for my family with 2 teenage sons. The reception is well decorated with the concept of pooh bear and his friends. Free breakfast of bread and drinks like orange juice/coffee/tea are being provided for guests where we can eat at the reception or bring them to our rooms. Owner and his wife are very helpful and friendly. K convenience store is just across the road. We chose this lodge because it is near to Nabana no sato winter illumination. Bookings is done through emailing to the lodge within 3 months and paying through paypal. Discovered Hatagoya has many lodges throughout Japan except Hokkaido.

Small and cozy 7 rooms hotel on the Northern part of Ishigaki island. Personalized welcome, very professional and kind staff, Room is comfortable, all amenities needed. Jacuzzi and small terrasse. The upper floor rooms have a better view and allow more privacy. Beautiful rooftop perfect for sunset. 4 privates and hidden beaches around the hotel Possibility to reserve breakfast and/or dinner upon booking. It is definitely worth it. Portions are great, freshness and variety amazing and all ingredients are showcasing Ishigaki/Okinawa specialties. Also, the restaurant has a view on the beach. Quick Story; As a foreigner in Japan, I don’t speak Japanese and the first night I had my partner (Japanese speaking) translating everything on the Japanese menu. On the next day, the waiter gave me an English menu. He took time to translate the entire dinner menu in English so I could read it. Thank you so much for this gesture, I appreciate so much ! I will keep an amazing memory from my stay at Seven Colors.
