Perched on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast, Galle wears its history on its sleeve. Windswept beaches and nodding palms surround its colonial-era showpiece, a 16th-century Portuguese-built fort, while the rest of the city is trimmed with Dutch-style houses, quirky shops, whitewashed mansions, and heritage museums.

My mom and I stayed here in 2018 and planned our trip around their availability this trip as we had been dreaming of coming back to this place the last 2 years. This time we stayed in the newly built rice paddy villa, a gorgeous suite/bungalow with 2 private patios (and soon to be private pool). The beautiful decor, style and being surrounded by tree with monkeys running around is truly magical. It's a super short tuk tuk ride in Galle Fort for happy hours and shopping and Indika the owner is always around to take you. Thank you Indika, Dineshi and staff we hope to be back next year! Also to note the hotel arranges PCRs on site, affordable transport around the island etc,. so feel free to just book and really they can help organize everything as you lounge by the pool. Super relaxing and beautiful place to stay!

WOW!It’s hard to describe just how special this place is. The most amazing Villa we miss so much. We spend a week here in March, surrounded by nature, monkeys in the trees, squirrels running around, the sounds of birds was truly something else. We had the double garden view balcony, saw some incredible sunrises and spent a lot of time around the pool and eating here. The food was outstanding, fresh seafood each day. Try the tuna! The staff are all so accommodating, really beautiful people that are all so friendly and accommodating. We have to give a shout out to the chiefs Sandaruwan & Istzan and also Bandula. Special thanks to: Buddhima, Saranga & Palitha, and the local tuk tuk driver for making our stay that little bit more magical. Without doubt the best place we have ever stayed. We are planning on coming back next year in a bigger group.

Strategically located between Hikkaduwa and Galle Ensuite rooms or beach huts Our specialized guides can organize a range of different tours and activities Visit our restaurant and beach bar which is open in the high season (November to May). We offer a selection of local dishes and other specialties and an inviting cocktail menu
Great place for a drink right on the beach sand. Hostel cabins looked great but we didn’t stay there. Just had a great night with drinks and met lots of cool people. Bara holds the odd party now and then and if you are lucky enough to be in the area when they do I highly recommend joining them.

Secret Garden Fort is a small cozy hotel and restaurant in the center of Galle Fort. We have 4 double rooms and 1 suit with 2 bedrooms, suits for 4 people or family. Our restaurant serves breakfast all day long and fusion food and drinks from local products. On weekends you can visit Srilankian food cooking classes.
We popped in for a late breakfast and the service and quality of the food was excellent as usual. Worth noting that they are open all year round and don't close for the off season. We had the pancakes with a latte and an Americano. Services was quick and friendly

My family and I stayed in the sea view rooms at the top of the spiral stair case. We really enjoyed our stay here, especially the comfy glass enclosed outdoor area. The location is close to the ocean where you can walk down the steps onto the beach and it is right amongst the restaurants. The shower has hot water and good pressure, probably one of the best we've experienced in Sri Lanka and the beds we're comfortable. The hosts are really lovely people who genuinely care about their guests and making sure that we have what we need.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 8 nights during our trip to Sri Lanka and it was the best decision ever. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. The guest house was clean, had a fridge, good working air conditioning and a breath taking view from outside the door. The beach outside the door was very nice and private. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner pretty much everyday at the hotel's restaurant ''Miracles sea food restaurant''. The people working there were AMAZING. The food was delicious and fresh. They provided impeccable service and tips for our trip in Sri Lanka. Next time we come back to Sri Lanka we will definitely come back here. I highly recomend this place!

We stayed three nights in this location and were quite satisfied. What we liked: - The location right in the middle of Galle Fort - The breakfast (on our first morning, we had a continental breakfast, which was ok. After that we asked for a Sri Lankan breakfast which was excellent) - The friendliness of the owners Was I think could be improved: - Our room (number 1) was clean but it would benefit from a renovation. Especially the walls had some stains (probably due to rain). We had the chance to take a peak into room number 2 which seemed to be in a better condition - You can hear what is happening in room number 2 very good (and vice versa I guess) All in all we enjoyed our stay in this location very much, especially given the very low price and the very lovely owners.

I have stayed 2 nights in Villa Bird Gate and enjoyed my stay very much. The room is absolutely beautiful, spacious, clean and furnished with taste. Patio overlooks well organized and at the same time magical garden with exotic palms and flowers. There is wooden platform which is constructed over the river with sitting facilities. The view from there is simply amazing. It’s peaceful, with singing of birds, river monitors (similar huge lizard is found on the island of Komodo). I found it compelling to observe nature from the platform . The host Rukmal is wonderful and caring person. He offers free rides to the city and fort which means that you can enjoy peaceful surrounding and at the same time be able to participate city life. I loved the breakfast cooked by the wife fo the host Ayesha. Especially local Sir Lanka breakfast was varied and very tasty. Ayesha cooked some vegetarian curries with unusual vegetables and red rice. I could not dream of better place to stay then Villa Bird Gate.
