Bargain stay

Reviewed By MarcusHurley

This hotel was a real bargain. It’s a few minutes walk from the train station and then maybe 15 minutes walk to the old town of Potsdam. Our room was very quiet, a reasonable size and had decent wifi and plenty of power sockets. Staff were friendly and helpful. We didn’t eat there but there was a breakfast option. Prices were very good.

We loved our stay!

Reviewed By Vero F

From Day one to Day five, we felt totally comfortable. Five people in three double rooms, all uf us really liked our acommodation. It was not only perfectly clean but very tastfully furnished with high quality finishes. No money was spared to decorate and furnish the villa. We were welcomed very friendly, luggage was carried to the upper floors and check in was easy and uncomplicated. We were looked after during our stay by the very obliging staff members, we enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet and the bottomless coffee. We appreciated the bicycle storeroom, lockable and spacious. All in all a very positive and enjoyable experience and we like to return for another stay.

Beautiful Hotel

We came as a family and stayed in the suite and it was just magical. The room is so beautifully made, with a rustic style. Our beds were so comfortable and we also had a little living room. We really loved this place as well as the garden restaurant. It's not to easy to arrive here, as it's a small village in Brandenburg, but that makes it so special as well. It's really away from the hustle and bustle of Berlin which allows you to enjoy your stay even more. We will definitely be back.

The staff are very nice and helpful. The restaurant area in the courtyard is delightful. The bed was comfortable and our room was very clean. I only wish we had had a fridge but otherwise it was a nice place and we will be returning this year.

Satama Lodges

Nice sauna park with rude reception, not welcoming at all.

Reviewed By 891Stefano891

We went there for a romantic two days. The sauna park itself with wooden cabins, lake, swimming pool is honestly great if not spectacular. But highly understaffed and overcrowded. The restaurant smells of fried constantly. The rooms are at a 10 min walking distance from the park, not inside it. So if you have breakfast included, you have to get up, get dressed, go to the sauna park, undress and then finally hit the restaurant. All this WAS NOT explained to us at all, but we were rudely invited to leave the reception when we arrived for breakfast without the towel bag. On check out you have to wait in the same line of the people registering for the sauna park. So you wait around 45 min. Then the very rude lady that "welcomed us " at arrival tried to overcharge us 75 euros. When I asked for the rechnung (Invoice) she took all my data but did not type them in. I had to walk back in and ask her again. Then she typed in the first 4 numbers of the VAT and not the address...This went on 4 times, when puffing handed me the invoice without even " hello or goodbye or a thank you for coming", or a more appropriate " sorry about that". If you ask if they have a list of the sauna treatments in English they answer " No, get going we have people waiting".... For 355 Euros you expect a bit more. In many other sauna resorts we visit often...they are nice and happy you are there. Not here.

Burg Stavenow

Great Getaway

Reviewed By Guide435696

The first time I came to Burg Stavenow, within a couple of hours I wished I was going to stay longer than the 2 days. Otto the dog greets all guests. The big room in the Burg was exceptional. I felt like I had gone back in time but with all the modern amenities you want and need. The remnants of the original castle have been lovingly and expertly renovated. It's fascinating to look at old pictures of what the Burg originally looked like before WWII and DDR. My favourite room is the living/dining room which also has a fireplace and interesting artwork. The place and the owners/managers have a tremendous amount of character which adds to the charm. The hosts both speak German and English and are very knowledgeable, interesting and engaged. I never needed nor wanted the distraction of television, radio or internet. The village is super quaint with approximately 50 residents and 30 houses. There's forest and fields to walk in and depending on the time of day Otto may join you! I've been back 3x since both for short weekend getaways from the bustle of city life and 2x back for Christmas holidays. Stavenow is almost halfway between Berlin and Hamburg. I've driven and trained from both places to Stavenow but I recommend having a car so you can explore the area. Christmas in Germany is special and if you are looking to get much needed R&R (rest and relaxation), where you can sleep in, walk, explore and recharge your batteries, this is definitely the place to be. And if you want to do and see more, I'd recommend going into Perleberg, a very charming town with old time look and feel, which is about 30 minutes away. A must see place is Ludwigslust especially the palace which has been renovated - strongly recommend doing the inside tour and walk the grounds. If you are interested in WWII history, do some research about Wobbelin and the graves that are situated in front of the Schloss and there is also a monument at the original Wobbelin site about 5 minutes drive from Ludwigslust. A good amount of choice for places to eat or drink from lunch, coffee or desserts. Schwerin is about 1 hour away and another place one should check out. At Christmas it has a lovely Christmas Market with ferris wheel that gives riders a 360 view of the city. The Palace is now being used for Government offices and visitors can do a tour, there's a cafe and the grounds are absolutely fabulous. Grabow is also worth a stop if you are interested in historical architecture. Many properties are getting fixed up and its neat to see which ones still require work. The river Elbe is only 30 minutes away. Past Lezen is an original DDR tower where guards would be posted 24/7 and keeping a look out for anyone trying to escape from the East to the West. Lezen also has a lot of old properties that are in dire need of repair and gives the visitor a real sense of what the other villages, towns and cities looked liked before reunification. Lezen Burg has a restaurant and cafe plus beautiful grounds to walk in, bizarre but humorous bronze statues and a stork's nest! If you like biking, I would recommend you bring your bikes as you can bike right around Stavenow Burg or drive to the River Elbe and bike the dykes - even all the way to Wittenberge. I have fallen in love with the area and since German and Russian are the main languages of the region, I feel safe and well cared for at Stavenow Burg. Kardstadt have a number of grocery stores, couple bakeries and there are a number of cafes and restaurants nearby or stay in and cook in the kitchens at the Burg. The apartment I booked this time has spare room for guests, so family and friends are visiting us - and they too have fallen in love with this place.
