A good all-rounder
Reviewed By HeavermanAfter quite a stressful journey to Talca and then finding it difficult to find a taxi in the 30C heat, Hotel Diego de Almagro was a welcome haven. My room was light, spacious and comfortable. A buffet breakfast was included. The only downside was that the hotel is on a busy road and there’s a lively bar quite close by and so there was a bit of street noise . Altogether very good value.

Excellent Place to Stay in Talca
Reviewed By roxfrymireOur Mission Team from Oklahoma stayed here February 2020. This place far exceeded our expectations. It was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good and served individually, not buffet style. Each room is assigned the use of a very clean bathroom located just outside your room and there was plenty of hot water. I believe a few rooms have a bath in the room. We felt very safe and not at all worried about leaving our belongings there during the day. There is a grocery store and other shopping just across the street. I would definitely stay there again. It's a great value. The staff is very nice, helpful and efficient.

Tiny room, but a warm experience
Reviewed By PUMBRIDGEThe Cordillera is one of Talca's most established hotels, and has been extended at the back with a succession of small rooms off a long, low corridor. Our room - twin beds, en suite - was tiny... one of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in, in fact. But the place was welcoming and friendly, the reception staff are pleasant, and the breakfast - prepared by a cheery little team who pitch up every morning - was very good. We arrived without anywhere to stay in Talca, and like most people coming off the twice-daily train from Santiago, simply emerged at the station and walked up the main drag. So, if you're offered room 16, bear in mind it's quite cramped. On one of the mornings we stayed, the hot water packed up. There was one little scurrying creature on the shower floor... but despite all that, it's a reasonable place to stay. The television on the wall mounting is so low that you risk clocking your head on it if you're making a noctural visit to the facilities. Breakfast options are scrambled egg, served in a little bowl, or simply toast and jam. The room was 33,000, or about £17 per person for the two of us sharing.

The restaurant was superb and the food was always high quality. The room was comfortable and clean. the windows had great shades to block out the early sunrises or bright night lights. All in all, I was very pleased.

Reviewed By jb079I'am still wondering what is eco about the hotel but nevertheless the rooms are bright and spacious. The beds are very nice. The bathroom is as it should be and staff is very attentive and helpfull. The restaurant is less. Food is not well cooked. Breakfast is a bit as everywhere else.

We like this place so much, because it's the perfect place to relax after a trekking day or when your travelling for longer time. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast with self made bread and fruits with cereals is the best thing to start the day. The meals for dinner are so delicious, we will miss them. The meals are vegetarian, sometimes they make a barbecue. We really recommend this place to everyone!!

Reviewed By MarceboomI think that museum hotels should gave some travelers a previous notification. Good location, but the furniture, rooms and common areas look in a mix of 1960's 1970's and 1080's styled. I felt depressed as soon as I arrived there. It is dark, old, not taste and not very welcoming of passengers. The price is high and for certain Talca has more to offer in hotels of the same range of prices. The vibe in the hotel is weird and in many ways was like staying in a old peoples place.

Great staff - well situated - clean - parking available
Reviewed By EricJ123Staid here for 2 nights. Reception was very helpful and were able to assist us in English. The rooms are clean, basic and comfortable and value for what it cost. The wifi is strong and included in the room rate. The bathroom has been refurbished and was of an adequate size. Parking is provided and is in a parking lot a block away from the hotel. If you are there with your own car park in the public parking lot, check in and then leave for the hotel lot. The breakfast is a buffet and the fresh watermelon was lovely.
