If you only make one stop for coffee and beautiful, delicious pastry, this is the place. Situated on the main shopping mall downtown, La Papa prepares Arabian desserts, amazing tortes and pies, cookies of all sizes and shapes, and my personal favorites, chocolate "danes"--which in other areas are known as chocolate croissants...oh, my...they're so addictive! The staff is also so fun and warm...this is a very popular cafe, and for good reason. Don't miss La Papa!

Las viejas cochinas

Though a very popular and typically Talquina restaurant with a good atmosphere, reflecting the artisan culinary tradition of Maule, over the last few years from been a place of consistently served good food ,the management has some what took the eyes off the ball. These days the quality of food and the customer can be some what random. Where some days you will be served excellent food to others, when it would be charitable to call the meals mediocre. Customer service can also be very random, with the majority of the waiters for what can be presumed to be some sort of macho pride, will refuse write down even the most complicated order, rather they commit the order to memory , with the predictable chaos when "your order" arrives. When the restaurant is busy it is not uncommon for your table to be completely forgotten by the waiting staff.
For the visitor to Talca this is "THE" restaurant for those who want to experience the most typical Maulinian "Huaso" dining experience with it's raucous, phonetic atmosphere, For those looking looking for guaranteed good food reliable customer service and a relaxing atmosphere this is probably not the restaurant for you

Having had already enough quick lunches at the Mall whenever we're in Talca for business, we decided to make a quick stop for lunch here. The food was nothing less than fantastic: The clam chowder was phenomenal, and the arroz con mariscos exquisite. The service was spotless; the prices OK. They offer a luch menu for about $6.500 pesos and it looked quite appetizing. I'd definitely stop by again, only next time with a bit more time to enjoy it the place even more!

I asked about pasta and the helpful waiter suggested a mixed pasta and meats, but I should have ordered a loin or filet at this place. The prices are very good for beef and that is what you should order here. I was told they are moving in the next month or so. Check the website for the address as it is not at Calle 2 Norte 515, but on 4 W. The (Chilean) papaya dessert was also very nice. Love the Austral beer.

With all the ancient recipes of our land and the most traditional environment with a exposition of pictures of the old city, ancient working tools and much more. This restaurant is also the headquarters of the Maule Valley wine route. In here you can find wine tastings and offers. Also we have tourist information of the entire region and free wifi.

My accommodation recommended this place. It didn't disappoint (after an hour's cycle). The service was attentive, the food 5 star, the wine unbelievable, and the price comparable to a cheap takeaway back home. After dessert, I wandered the vineyards and then bought four bottles of wine at prices that were basically giveaways. No visit to Talca is complete without this amazing destination!

Gelateria Via Lactea

They love their ice cream in Talca. And with a place like the Gelateria Via Lactea to enjoy the impressive array of flavours, no wonder.
Located within a slightly old-fashioned, somewhat down-at-heel shopping mall (compared to the glitzy new ones which have sprung up in town), this is a traditional centre which is very dear to locals' hearts.
The menu is daunting - so many flavours, so many options.
Of course, it's a multi-purpose restaurant, serving meals in large seated areas (including an outdoor section, which allows smoking - so if you don't like that, you have to eat in), but the real draw is the ice cream.
I ordered a 'fruit of the forest' (frutos del bosque) for 4,950 pesos (about £6). My friend went for After Eight, similar price.
Both thoroughly enjoyable. This is an ice cream parlour which is well worth a visit.

A wide range of fine seafood and tables, followed by main based on meat as lomo a lo pobre or pasta and homemade desserts adapted to our culture , have enabled its owner, Miguel Angel Abasolo Russo , keep a food with a high standard quality , but still give the taste to their customers, who can put together a plate with the products they want.

I enjoyed a nice dinner there, very well presented food in a cossy restaurant that is more intimate that I though is going to be. Good food not brilliant but worth a visit not matter to reach the restaurant we needed to get a taxi from the city center and back.

Mostly for sushi fans, not much else on the menu.Thank you very much for your comments. I also think that the mojito is one of our best cocktails I hope you can return to Casa Alameda!
