The 10 best hotels in Aruba, Caribbean

August 5, 2022 Darwin Bolte

Aruba is the quintessential Caribbean island, all sun and sea and stretches of powdery white sand. Time will slow to a pleasant crawl as you linger over a tropical cocktail or flutter serenely underwater, where only the parrotfish are in a hurry. The pastel façades of Oranjestad landmarks and shops lend an inviting and playful vibe to the capital city. Enjoy the shade of an Eagle Beach divi tree while the crashing waves of turquoise water create a soothing soundtrack just for you.

Great Hotel + Great Beach = Paradise and Relaxation Found

Reviewed By U5589TUjackiej

This Hilton Aruba Resort was wonderful. First off, the staff (and people here in general) were very friendly. The towel/palapa reservation station staff were also very friendly. The spa staff were also great (I recommend Gloria if you take the relaxation massage). In terms of the grounds, it's very open air and clean with plenty of places to have your own space. I went for a long walk and walked past the Riu where it looked very crowded where people are basically on top of each other. That wasn't what I was looking for in terms of social distancing and relaxing so the Hilton was great at giving people enough space. The beach here is awesome! Turquoise waters, easy to go swimming, and right next to a diving/sailing/snorkeling shop which is very convenient. Usually, convenience does not matter to me when I take a vacation, but I have to say the Hilton location is simply the best. Regarding Palapa rentals, this is a must if you sunburn easily and still want to enjoy the beach. There are some reviews on here that mention $50 and waiting in line to reserve one. However, do yourself a favor and reserve them in advance online for $20! I reserved one for each day for three days in a row. There is a service charge of $3 per day for a $20 palapa. What I did was reserve a palapa on the very end of the row so that my view was still unobstructed (all you have to do is turn your head a quarter turn to the right and you see the beach). If it bothers you to have people in front of you, then the $50 option would be it. I paid $69 for 3 days which to me was worth it. The palapa I had was also right next to the dive shop I mentioned previously and was also right next to the Bread Basket snack/drink shop so you have accessible services right there if you wanted other options. The nice thing is that you can basically set up shop at the palapa and it is yours for the full day. You don't have to worry about going snorkeling with the shop next door and having to re-reserve a palapa. The palapa reservations team was wonderful and will help remove people if they think that they can take your palapa if you step away for a minute (again the staff here are the best!). In terms of beaches, I loved the beach here. Aruba does not have private beaches, so you can walk to any other beach and go swimming and it's not a problem (this is not the case at other places that I have stayed where the hotel monopolizes one beach) so beach access is great. In terms of COVID testing, make your reservation to test the day that you get there. They allow walk ins, but you would have to wait and to me I wanted to be in and out as fast as possible. Again, the option to reserve in advance is highly recommended. Can't recommend this hotel enough if you stay at this one happy island!! I did not want to leave!

Great Hotel in great location

Reviewed By T554SMrick

This was our first trip to Aruba but will not be our last. Our family has travelled multiple times per year to the Carribean and so we have seen many nice places. This has a great combination of great beach and great hotel but the boardwalk running in between the hotels and beach offers many dining and bar options so you do not feel like you are held hostage at the hotel. Cabs are very easy to get at affordable prices and a great island to explore. My only negative is the water in front of the hotel is not as pretty as Turks and Caicos or Cayman and there are many boats anchored in front of the hotels which distracts from the experience.......but overall a great place. we asked every cab driver we rode with to rank the hotels and all seemed to put the Hyatt first. based on quality of the property and convenient loacation to everything, I cant disagree. If you go, there is a website to reserve palapas in advance. People that have been there before know to reserve them in advance so even if your room says "best available palapa", if you don't reserve in advance, best available may not be very good.
