Good stay

Reviewed By RoseMrza

Our first time here staying in Lungwood, and Nippori area. Overall it was good stay. Location is great, only a minute away from Nippori station. Everything is basically within walking distance. Diner, convenient shop, pharmacy etc. Staffs were helpful and welcoming. One of the reason we chose this hotel is for it’s spacious room, compared to other hotels in Tokyo. We really prefer big rooms, where our child could roam around, not tripping on the bags or furniture. Room is well kept & clean. Only mishaps is, it was winter during our trip. I understand that some hotels would switch off their centralized air conditioner for heater, and so is this one. But our room particularly, was very humid & stuffy because of that. Note that the windows cant be opened. So we had to ask the staff for a portable fan ( they don’t have portable air conditioner ). It does help,a bit. Overall, it was a good stay.

Hotel MyStays Nippori

A traditional neighborhood connected directly to Japan's biggest airport. If you're looking to relax before or after a long overseas flight, look no further than us. Thanks to the Keisei Skyliner, you're only a short train ride away from Narita Airport but it won't feel that way once you stroll through the whimsical and charming Yanaka neighborhood nearby. All rooms are equipped with kitchenettes.

Great place to stay in Tokyo for work trips

Reviewed By Sayaka49

A simple, well-equipped room with kitchen facility, a perfect place to stay in Tokyo for work trips. Good location as direct trains to Narita airport, my regular place to rest right after the long-haul flights. Nippori is close to oldtown Tokyo, so mostly local residents and not overcrowded. The hotel is located on the main street though rooms are quiet enough for sound sleep. Supermarkets, convenience stores nearby and plenty of local restaurants to choose from. Great value.

Hope you like trains!

Reviewed By johnandlizb

I really liked this hotel. The room was lovely and clean and had everything I needed. However, its location between two busy railway lines in VERY close proximity means that the noise from the trains is very loud until about 11.30pm. Rooms are nice and spacious with an extra living area by the window. Enjoyed staying here.

The best and the worst thing: near the station

Reviewed By Jenni K

I picked this hotel purely because of the location and the price. Right next to the Nippori station. You'll have to find the right door and go to 3rd floor by elevator to reach the reception. Staff was nice and tried their best to communicate, even though their English was not good. I got to leave my luggage there supervised for a couple of hours, as I arrived before I could get to my room. I got a smoking room (I don't smoke inside but didn't have a choice about the room when booking via a third party) and the smell was horrible, but I knew beforehand that would be the case, and fortunately there was fabric freshening spray which really helped. I didn't expect best quality when I didn't pay a whole lot, and I think I got what I paid for. A safe, clean place to rest between exploring the city. The room had basic cleanliness, but clearly everything was somewhat old and a bit worn out. There were nice restaurants near this hotel, and the Yanaka Ginza street, old cemetary and Fabric town are just a couple of steps away. The best thing about this hotel is the location next to the station. The Yamanote line stops in Nippori and takes you for example to Ueno, Tokyo station, Shibuya and Harajuku quickly. Unfortunately the best thing about the hotel was also the worst. My room's window was facing the station (no view whatsoever, just a grey wall) and I could clearly hear all the noises. The trains don't bother me one bit, but all the other noise, such as announcements, jingles (yes... the trains have jingles) and warning tones were super loud and disruptive. It went on until 12 at night and started again at 5 am. I had ear plugs with me but didn't sleep too well with them, because I usually don't wear them at night. But to be able to get some sleep they were absolutely necessary. So bring them if you're staying in this hotel and I really mean it. Overall, not a stylish place, but functional. Wouldn't stay here again though, because of the station being so loud.

Good hostel for city tripping

Reviewed By Psycho-realm

Pro's : Rooms are very clean with bright lights. Aircon worked fine. Sanitair is very well maintained and comfortable showers. WiFi strength and internet speeds are good. Personal is friendly. Hostel is located close to a metro station and grocery shop (5minute walk). We had the biggest 2 person room which was fine. Con's : kitchen and equipment is not sufficient for a 10 story hostel. Not enough kitchen equipment, extremely small fridge and just 2 stoves. Really frustrating if you like to make use of these facilities. The lounge is pretty small for a hostel this size. Rooms could be designed better to optimize the space for you luggage in a small space (for example space under the bed or extra wall rack etc).

Great hotel in a quiet neighbourhood

Reviewed By limshengming

Bottom Line: If you like a quiet neighbourhood and if you know enough Japanese to book the hotel, handle check-in & check-outs, I highly recommend Business Hotel Sun Palace There are so many good things about this hotel it really surprised me. First of all, the location. The area of Minami-Senju is predominantly residential so it’s a nice, quiet place to stay (in comparison to other parts of Tokyo). There is a surprisingly good set of facilities within walking distance including a train station (Minami-Senju station), 2 supermarkets, at least three convenience stores, a police box, a clinic, a park and numerous restaurants including a McDonalds and Burger King. I easily stocked up of food in my hotel room so I could save some money on breakfast. If you’re willing to walk a little further you can reach La La Terrace with even more supermarkets, more food, Uni Qlo, Daiso (100 yen store) and other services. If you walk in the other direction (it is a little far) you can also reach Tokyo Sky Tree with even more shopping opportunities. And this being Japan there was no shortage of vending machines in the area. Transport to and from this area is rather convenient. Minami-Senju station is served by the JR Hibiya line as well as the Tsukuba Express. On either line you are just a few stops away from the very well-connected JR Yamanote line. Minami-Senju is also served by a number of buses (there is a main bus terminal just outside the hotel) though I did not use any of the buses or learn any of their routes. My hotel room was clean with an attached bathroom (complimentary bath soap & shampoo provided), flat-screen television (with in-house theatre including English movies), hair dryer, air-conditioner, kettle and two paper cups. Yes, I found the paper cups surprising but I’ve started travelling with my own cup anyway. There is a common area in the hotel that provides plastic cups, ice and a microwave so if the paper cups bother you feel free to borrow a few of the plastic ones. The room also has a LAN cable but I did not make use of it. Free WiFi is provided by FREESPOT (http://freespot.com/) and the service was bearable though streaming video from websites like YouTube was a tad problematic. I recall seeing stickers on the elevators saying that SoftBank, Au and DoCoMo users had access to WiFi in that area but I couldn’t test any of them. The hotel cleaning service always did a brilliant job but I could never work out their schedule. The front desk told me they only clean until 12 noon but one day they said they couldn’t get to my room until 3pm. On the days it wasn't convenient for me I told them not to clean my room but they would still supply fresh towels, a new set of pajamas (something I’ve found unique to Japan hotels) and a new bottle of water. Cost-wise, the hotel falls somewhere in the middle considering prices of hotels in Tokyo. Fortunately for me, they were having a special sale so my nightly rate was even cheaper than usual. The hotel also provides a computer room (I think it was 100 yen for 20 minutes) but I did not make use of it. The biggest down-side to this hotel is that it may be too near the train station. I could hear the trains coming and going. I'm not sure what time trains start running in Japan but if you’re the type to spend the morning sleeping in be warned and bring ear plugs. Strangely though, the sounds of the train did not bother me. The second thing is that Business Hotel Sun Palace hotel does not yet have an independent website: they receive online reservations through Yahoo.co.jp and Rakuten. Unless you’re comfortable reading Japanese (or are willing to use a plugin like Rikai-chan) you may find it a little troublesome to book your stay here. They did mention they are in the process of setting up their own website so let’s hope it has an English section. The employees at the front desk could speak a smattering of English but I never really could gauge their proficiency since I could speak Japanese with them.
