Terrible Customer Service
Reviewed By janicemaritIt was a terrible experience. We couldn’t even get to the stat because they cancelled our booking on the same day. When we first made the reservation it was an accident but I couldn’t cancel because of cancellation fee, when I requested it to be waived I received a booking email saying the hotel had said no, so we just decided to go anyways and enjoy. On the day of the stay I wrote the hotel to say we were going to be late because of traffic and they said my reservation had been cancelled because of my request. They basically manually cancelled my reservation and left it confirmed on booking.com when I tried to say something about it they said I had requested it, but I only got the cancellation email on the same day of the stay and past the checkin time, at 7:45PM. To me this is terrible management I wouldn’t recommend this place at all! They’re staff is definitely not nice, the lady that attended to me via phone didn’t even try to apologize, she basically blamed me for it.

Handy Base; Menacing Cat
Reviewed By sadeeyorPerfect location, tucked round the corner from the bus stop, and the main square, where you can jump a jeep to El Penyol (easier at weekends - timed something right for a change). If cleanliness is a vital concern, beware. The girl who checked me in (and it's a separate entrance, upstairs to a dorm) had to be interrupted from her lunch. I apologised. No sooner had I started looking out my passport and she some keys than the menacing cat had leapt up & pounced on the place, shattering it in fragments of crockery & spag bol all across the floor. A pet friendly place for sure; guest friendly: out to lunch. The place was more dromedary dosshouse than dormitory, washing & kitcheny places kinda grubby too, but I didn't have the stomach nor the time to inspect. You come here to scale The Rock first, yeah? But on my way out, I had a couple of questions. The girl was otherwise preoccupied, yet the smashed plate & pasta combo had been abandoned for any stray animal to scoff & cut paw. Animal hairs Everywhere. And the gato manico was loudly testing its claws on a couch. El Penyol was worth the effort. Guatape's one of the most charming towns in the country, great for zocalo-snapping. Next morning though, nobody around to hand keys to, so just left them in the door. Blame the cat if they're not there.

Bad experience with the reception.
Reviewed By Nitzan REmiliano , the man in the reception thought he heard us speaking, although he doesn’t speak our language. He called us thieves, and claimed we had intention to runaway without paying. Even though we payed everything in advance. The hostel itself is great, the private rooms ar enough and beyond, and the rest of the crew members are great. Unfortunately our experience got a bad taste at the end because of Emiliano, we recommend the manager to take that in mind, that’s not a way to treat anyone.

Reviewed By remeim2020The hostel is cozy, nice to meet people, you can swim and canoe from it, it has a great view to the rock and it is easy to reach walking. I went with a friend and she said the matresses are not the best, like they do a "U" shape, but honesty I slept really good, I have no complaints. And it's not a reason for a no-go according to my friend. One remark (positive one) the shower has really warm water that's a plus haha not easy found in Colombia. Breakfast is good and the service is helpful and really nice. They offer also possibility to buy beer and snacks, free water.

Quiet, cosy and away from all the hustle and bustle
Reviewed By RykrotOak Tree is less of a hostel and more of a guesthouse. It's across the bridge from Guatape so the area is less busy and a lot more peaceful. Walking to Guatape is only about 10 minutes. We visited with our 7 month old and had a great time. Breakfast was good, staff was friendly and helpful, and although we didn't use them, the common spaces were very cosy.

Terrible location, rooms, and bathrooms
Reviewed By UnderwanderingstarsThe place is definitely not what the reviews show… I have stayed in hostels over 40 countries and this one was nothing to write home about. Rooms: Horrible. Bug infested, loud, uncomfortable, very dark. The windows are wide open all night so you will wakeup with a body full of mosquito bites (no nets to protect you just open buffet for the winged beasts) The windows are right in front of the lounge so all night you will hear talking (not the people who are talkings fault as where are they suppose to go?) and come 6am everyday you will be woken up by the strange oriental music they play and even more talking. Sleep is none existent here. There is one light in the room that operates at maybe 5watts… it isnt even night light worthy and nothing can be seen in the room without using a flashlight. The beds are very uncomfortable and the fitted sheet wouldnt stay in which is very gross. Bathrooms: There are literally two washrooms for the entire hostel which is beyond disgusting…. Location: Horrible. It is so far from the town tucked away near the forest so leaving to get something will take about an hour of pointless walking. The place is infested with all kinds of bugs because of this and the power / water was always cutting out. So there were 3 hrs of the day where no one could flush the toilet. You could imagine how disgusting this became…

All In Hostel Guatape is a brand new hostel, located at the entrance of Guatape Village just meters away from EL Penon de Guatape, that was created with the purpose of providing a good service and a little bit of luxury for our guests. We've tried our best providing nice common areas where you can relax and have a good time. We are 10 mins walk distance to the Rock and have a direct access to the lake where you can rent our Kajak. We also have road and mountain bicycles. Come and join us and have a memmorable stay in this beautiful town.

Reviewed By Aura HPros: Clean!! Nice lady at front desk. Good breakfast. Great view. Little store next door. Super close to the rock (Peñol). Cons: No key to lock room. No hot water (icy cold, CAN handle cold showers but not icy mountain cold in the AM or PM) Hard, Plastic bed mattress and pillow (make you sweat). Our toilet was not working in private room. Had to take cover off to flush. Week WIFI, makes it hard to plan for the rest of your trip. Pay a little more to stay in another hostel, Closer to Guatapé. Seriously counted the hours to get out to take a proper shower.

An idyllic spot
Reviewed By hibsbWe stayed in the apartment with lake view for 2 nights and were charmed by the character and location, 2 bedrooms, one was double aspect and the other triple aspect, two decks with a hammock each and a kitchen with a table in front of a large window with a view of the lake. We breakfasted outside on burritos filled with eggs cheese and ham and drank homemade juice and coffee. The owners were lovely and so helpful and we had the company of their fluffy dog too. It is on the end of a thin piece of land which means spectacular lake views on three sides and just to the left a view of El Peñol. Lake activities arranged by the family and just heavenly overall!

Hostel and private rooms in one of the oldest houses of Guatape, situated just off the main square and 100 metres from the bus station. Boat trips, kayaking, fishing, jet skis, sailing, fishing etc easily available on the lake. We use quality bedding and mattresses, every bed has two charging points and a reading light. Breakfast available, communal dinners on some evenings. Very highly rated on all online sites.

Reviewed By Z6349WQchristianmWe had a quick stop in Guatape to see Pierda De Penol. This hostel was right next to the main square. The staff was very friendly and accommodations were very clean. Definitely recommend this hostel if you are staying for a night in Guatape.
