Before arriving in Kruger for a 2 wk vacation, I reached out to Johnathan Patterson and explained my interest in visiting his gallery and in any Wild dog artwork he had. Explained I was going to be coming by the gallery before leaving back to the USA and was hoping on my vacation to spot my obsession....Wild Dogs. I was hoping to see them before leaving the park and then buy a piece from Johnathan to savor my experience forever. Well last morning in the park, we were surrounded by 30 dogs including 13 puppies for almost an hour in the road and I knew I needed to have something to remember that day. I arrived at the gallery and Johnathan was waiting to show me all the galleries artwork. He showed me a piece he had just finished of a Wild Dog and immediately I was in love and bought it. I returned home and decided to buy another piece of art from another artist Johnathan showcases, Andy Anderson. I wrote to Johnathan, explained what I wanted and bought it. I received it today and couldn't be more happy with it. Johnathan kept me updated on the shipment and where it was and it was carefully wrapped. I am returning to Kruger next August and plan to visit Johnathan again. His gallery is very nice, the artwork is incredible and to me very reasonable. The shops at the Casterbridge are very nice and I was able to pick up some last minute souvenirs before going back to JHBG. If you have the time, stop by this wonderful gallery, you won't be dissappointed.

Blyde River Canyon

The views were out of this world, particularly in the northern part of the Drakensberg escarpment with the amazing geological features of Bourke's luck potholes situated in the confluence of the Blyde and Treur rivers. We weren't so lucky with the God's window because of the low clouds making it impossible to see anything.

Hops Hollow

Reviewed By CLMM2P - Roodepoort, South Africa

My partner Alison, myself, along with my mate and his wife and my brother in law, went back to Hops Hollow again as a ‘base’ for some adventure bike riding. My brother in law and I were last there in December 2019. Nothing has changed. It was great to see Willie (the manager) and the same staff again. They went out of their way to make our short stay amazing. Willie even moved his vehicles out of the way (again) to allow us to park our motorcycles at the back and under cover. Without needing to check the menu, I ordered the Lamb stew - WOW, never fails to impress the taste buds - I have ordered this meal every time I have been there - four times in total. Such a wonderful place to unwind while siting by the fire. Thanks again Willie, and your Merry staff - see you soon.

Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre

A lifestyle centre that includes shops, restaurants and galleries -all situated in a garden-like environment, with lovely trees and walkways. Here you can also learn about the making of coffee and Gin and visit a busy foundry. There is a small cinema, which is a delight - especially as you can take in your wine or even get a pizza delivered. The centre also has a theatre, mostly catering for live music, a music development academy and a vintage car museum. All of this with a hotel attached and within striking distance of the Kruger Park.
