State Grand Mosque

Reviewed By malikawais143 - Karachi, Pakistan

Imam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahab Mosque also called National/ State Grand mosque of Qatar, located in Al Muhandissen street Doha. IMPORTANT TO KNOW:- If you find the location of Grand Mosque of Doha from Google they will take you to other Mosque name "Al Shouyoukh Mosque" which is located near Souq Waqif. So if you want to visit Grand Mosque always search "Imam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahab Mosque" than you will get the right location. The distance of National Mosque is 3.7 km from West Bay and 8.1 km from Old Doha/ Souq Waqif. The Mosque was opened in 2011, having 90 domes and 1 Minaret with total capacity of 30,000 peoples. The National Mosque is the largest Mosque of Qatar. This is one of the beautiful Mosque i have ever seen with eye catching architecture that have several entrance gates for gents, ladies, disabled person and have large parking area. The best time to visit Mosque is Evening or blue hours to enjoy the lighting of the mosque. The security persons will allow you only to take pictures from mobile they won't allow you to take pictures with Professional Camera (DSLR) without prior approval from qatar authorities that was very disappointed for me because i walked too long just to take pictures with my camera. Muslims and non-Muslims both can visit the Mosque any time with proper dress code, ladies must wear Abaya and cover their heads. If you take a taxi to the mosque either you can ask driver to wait for you or you can walk around 300 to 500 meters to reach at Main street from where you can get another taxi. If you are in Qatar must visit this place.

Katara Cultural Village

Reviewed By Saraazy

I was here for the Ajyal Youth Film Festival which was just amazing non-stop fun from day 1. Apart from the actual film festival, I found so many more things to do at Katara. There is a Falcon House, antiques auction house, arts area where local artists (who produce the most beautiful art) work and are so welcoming & inviting to visitors (they will engage with you and ask you to try out pottery or painting or calligraphy etc), restaurants and cafes, and plenty more. I believe there is always something happening in Katara but be sure to check what event is coming up before your visit or just visit Katara anyway! It'll be a peaceful/relaxing/inspiring day out. All the restaurants and cafes are of top quality with a variety of cuisines to choose from (traditional 'fish & chips' at a seafood testaurant, curries at an Indian restaurant, Middle Eastern food at a Lebanese restaurant and plenty more). During the festival there was live outdoor entertainment from all over the world (while films were screening indoors with activities for children, and a red carpet event for international celebs such as Draco from Harry Potter and the Wasp from Ant Man) and as the weather was just perfect (not too hot or cold), with ample seating, it was just magically perfect! Moreover, the bathrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen in all my travels! Cleaners are on standby, waiting to clean up after every single visit! Even around Katara, you will constantly see cleaners working around the clock. Also, you can hitch a ride with a caddie (wherever you see one that is free) to give you a free of charge tour around Katara or even just to get you from one place to another (if you're feeling a bit lazy or tired). While we were there, the mall at Katara was still under construction, so I can't wait to go back and check it out as retail therapy was the only thing Katara fell short of to keep you going till midnight!
