My wife and myself are long term travelers and stayed for 5 nights at Rosalinas place. Here is why we give it a 4 star: - location: located at the end of the town just near the main street, although not directly on it (I.e. less noisy), the place is a good base to explore the surroundings. You need however to walk a bit until decent food options can be reached. There is a small Supermarket near the place - the room: the rooms are basic but provide everything you need. You can expect just a bed and a basic washroom. They are clean but not refreshed daily. Soap is provided. - logistics: Rantepao guides know the place and you can easily find one here as they lure around to find some clients (but are not intrusive or insisting). We pre-booked Samuel (+ +62 813-5466-8799 ) based on a recommendation and we were not disappointed at all. He managed to find us some “insider” stuff like a bullfight and a real underground cock fight. Samuel is a former English teacher and very literate about the region. Also, you can rent a motorbike right at the place at a comparatively cheap price. - food: the food at Rosalinas place is surprisingly good! Honestly speaking: after having tried each evening another restaurant in Rantepao, we ended up eating the last day at Rosalinas place and it was the most delicious dish we had in Rantepao and this at a very affordable price!

The service was nice. I felt a sincere smile from all the staff since check in until check out. The hotel is clean. The location is good. Spending quality time with family is recommended here. The room is spacious. The green area is one that I love the most for taking picture. Also with the tradiotional interior within the room and all hotels public areas. Breakfast was nice.

We visited the hotel before deciding to stay there, due mainly to the rather critical ( and older) reviews. I must say that most of the criticized points have been attended to: The bathrooms are all renovated with a good warm water shower, the rooms are very simply furnished but with a beige ceramic floor very clean. Garden and swimming pool are very well looked after. The breakfast was made to order plentiful and charmingly served. So no complaints for IDR 500000. (€ 31) breakfast included. I must admit that we were the only guests and hope this review can change that.

First night, we slept like babys.. I think Sarah has the best bed in all Sulawesi. Next morning and every following, she offered an incredible breakfast! With bananacake and fresh self-made bread, marmelade and everything. Sarah helped us with all we needed. A clinic, motorbike, guides, places to walk around Rantepao, best place for massage in hole Sulawesi (at her neighbours), bus to Makassar, a private taxi for a day tour in Makassar... Everything!! I'm very grateful for all those things she did! And if you're lucky she will cook for you. She's the best cook on the Island, too! It is a home, thank you Sarah.

This place made my experience in Toraja totally unforgettable. It felt like a second home. The host, Ela, is so friendly and ready to help and the rooms cover all the basic needs to a surprinsingly good price. I ended up extending my stay 4 days. The room was clean, the breakfast is good and the Wi-Fi works great. What I really loved about this place is that it is suitable for all kinds of visitors, from backpakers to entire families with kids. This is because the place has a great atmosphere, which is not easy to find in hotels. Thank you Ela for the warm welcome and for all the help you provided during my stay!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Purabarang Family House with Pauluss and his family. The accomodation is clean and spacious. We had a room with a private bathroom with shower and toilet. Breakfast is included and is so tasty (the best banana pancakes we had). There is also very good Wifi available. We truly enjoyed staying here and ended up staying for around a week. The town is a 15 min walk from the property. Pauluss can assist with renting a scooter if needed. We also spent 3 full days with Pauluss exploring the area. Pauluss is very friendly, efficient and is fluent in English. He provided us with so much information about the Toraja culture and their traditions. We were also lucky to see both a wedding and funeral ceremony. We can't thank Pauluss enough for his service, hospitality and all the information we received. He really is amazing and we felt so at home with him. The accomodation is less expensive than other options in town, but you get so much more if you stay here. We highly recommend this place and would love to return again in the future. Thank you Pauluss! Jill and Patrick
