Deshanâs street sign on the road to Goyambokka Beach advertises rooms and restaurant. We did not stay here, but stopped in for dinner on the recommendation of others staying at our guest house, Calm Garden Cabanas, nearby. The food was delicious, the beer was cold, and the service was friendly and responsive. We returned a couple of times, and enjoyed each meal very much. Highly recommended. Ivan & Linda, Canada

Incredibly bad and slow service! We arrived and were greeted by no one. There was a group of five and us three and it took for ages for us to get the menu. After that it took for nearly an hour for us to get our meals! Waiter didnât seem to understand me who spoke English, so the Sinhalese people in my group had to translate for him. When we asked to order cocktails, the waiter said itâs not possible because he cannot make them - WHAT?! Food was basic and not great in any way. Sweet and sour chicken was just overly fried chicken with tons of pepper - not even any sauce. The location on the beach is wonderful and the restaurant is nice looking and they have great swings on the beach. Wouldnât recommend this place for anyone. Can get better food for the same price (or cheaper) elsewhere.

This restaurant served the best fish in Sri Lanka. The food was delicious. We went everyday during our stay in Tangalle. The owners were so appreciative that they gave us a free dessert on our final day which was a nice touch. This is definately value for money. They also offer tours to some of the sites which again was good value for money. The staff were friendly and reliable.

So good... this place is Sri Lankan prices! And has local Sri Lankan food, which itâs delicious. Service was fantastic, the view and location is lovely, really chill vibe. Recommend if you want to get away from the western vibes in town and enjoy what Sri Lanka is all about. The local eats.

We enjoyed seafood, salad and pasta,and it was all great! Easy to tell that all food was fresh- we even experienced meeting the fishermen delivering fish directly from the sea, and got to pick what we wanted to eat.Service is the best and the relaxed vibe is awsome. We want to return!

We decided to try Salt on our last night in Hiriketiya for the great reviews. Didn't quite live up to the expectations. The grilled fish in the fish taco was delicious, but it was accompanied by a blunt-tasting mayo and a tiny piece of mango. Could be easily improved with a tastier sauce! The chicken burger was OK, but nothing special. Sweet potato chips (or was it cassava?) were soft and tasteless and came without a dip. The place is a generic surf&yoga-place, so don't expect anything Sri Lankan from it. The service was friendly. The prices were high, but in line with the overall high price level of Hiriketiya. Still, there are some nice seafood and curry restaurants nearby with cheaper prices and way more value for money. Hi Guys, Thanks for the positive comment about our service. That is one strength we believe we have in our team. I'm sorry to hear the experience at Salt was not quiet what you hoped. We strive every day to add a little Western Flavor to peoples tables after having consumed many a curry elsewhere. Its always a big challenge training our young team on exactly how the food should look and taste so we will continue to persist with training and education.
