Reviewed By EvaRodneyRavana Garden was by far our favorite place to stay during our three week trip to Sri Lanka. There are so many amazing things to be said about this beautiful and well thought out resort that I dont even know where to start. The resort itself as well as the surrounding area is beautiful and very peaceful which is very refreshing compared to many other beach resorts that are often crammed in between other resorts/shops/streets. Ravana Garden is a true oasis in this respect. The rooms were so well designed and we loved the plunge pool and outdoor bathtub. Food was amazing! Our two kids are not used to spicy food so the staff was very mindful of this. Our son turned 4 years during our stay and the staff made it a very memorable birthday for him and for us by baking him a cake, preparing treats, singing for him and even got him a gift. He absolutely loved it! In the end the one thing that really stood out to us was the AMAZING staff that really made us feel like home. They were all so friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Udaya who, among other things, took us on a walk to Ussangoda and shared so much of his knowledge with us (I believe one of the other reviews said something like a living encyclopedia and we couldnt agree any more). Also a special thanks to Lakshitha whom took really good care of us during our whole stay...what a true resource to the resort! And on top of all this..their sustainable approach?

Reviewed By 461normanjThe accommodation was beautiful, convenient. The hosts arranged the safari for us at a very good price and even prepared lunch and breakfast to take on the the safari. The safari itself was a great experience and we saw 5 leopards, 4 elephants, a crocodile, many peacocks and lots of monkey. What we particularly liked is that our driver was trying to find the spots with less people and often went in a different direction as the “hurds” of other jeeps. Nonetheless we spotted even more animals than some of the other safari guests that we talked to during lunch. Definitely go to La safari Inn and ask them to arrange everything!!

Reviewed By Dip1986Ananya beach resort has a breathtaking backdrop. Words cannot describe the sense of relaxation we felt during our three night stay. Our room was spotless, extremely large with an incredible view of the pool and the sea from the balcony and window. The bathroom had hot water at all times of the day. The hotel also had a generator for powercuts so the AC still worked. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had all our meals (breakfasts, snacks and dinners) at the hotel and the food was delicious although a few more vegetarian options would have been nice. We tried different cocktails by the pool and all were made well. The infinity pool was a lovely temperature and the beach was idyllic. If we return to Sri Lanka, we would definitely return to Ananya Beach Resort.

We spend a week here in March, surrounded by nature, monkeys in the trees, squirrels running around, the sounds of birds was truly something else. We had the double garden view balcony, saw some incredible sunrises and spent a lot of time around the pool and eating here. The food was outstanding, fresh seafood each day. Try the tuna! The staff are all so accommodating, really beautiful people that are all so friendly and accommodating. We have to give a shout out to the chiefs Sandaruwan & Istzan and also Bandula. Special thanks to: Buddhima, Saranga & Palitha, and the local tuk tuk driver for making our stay that little bit more magical. Without doubt the best place we have ever stayed. We are planning on coming back next year in a bigger group.

This time we stayed in the newly built rice paddy villa, a gorgeous suite/bungalow with 2 private patios (and soon to be private pool). The beautiful decor, style and being surrounded by tree with monkeys running around is truly magical. It's a super short tuk tuk ride in Galle Fort for happy hours and shopping and Indika the owner is always around to take you. Thank you Indika, Dineshi and staff we hope to be back next year! Also to note the hotel arranges PCRs on site, affordable transport around the island etc,. so feel free to just book and really they can help organize everything as you lounge by the pool. Super relaxing and beautiful place to stay!

Reviewed By 498rustysI recently stayed with my wife and 2 year old at 02 villas for 1 month. There were so many little nuance things I liked about this place. In no particular order here are some of them. My child is not an easy sleeper and having the beach so close was a God send both for naptime and night time sleeping. You can actually see the beach from the property gates. The walk is maybe 50-100 metres across a railway and then a main road. This part of the beach is super quiet and perfect for putting babies to sleep. The walk there and back always reminded me of the railway scene from stand by me. The gardens the property is set on are also amazing. Litrally on the banks of a river. Which naturally brings a lot of nature and wildlife. The birds that nest in the trees around produce an amazing orchestra of sound at both dusk and dawn that will give you jungle feelings. Sometime a night walk around the garden would be enough to help the little one sleep. The property is far away enough from the road that you cannot hear any vehicles. Yet the sound of crashing waves can be heard in the distance. The hospitality shown to us by the owner Jeewan and his family was emence. I felt like he went out of his way to accommodate us and help in any way possible. The villa is set on the land where he has his own family home, so immediately you feel like you are amongst a local community. Jeewan who is born and raised in Weligama litrally knows everyone and everything about the area and is able to advise and direct you in your needs during your stay, with great wisdom. The level of the finish on the villa is outstanding compared to other properties I have seen in the area. There was even a jacuzzi in our apartment. Fully functional with party lights and a radio/speaker system. The apartments are very well equipped, with comfy new furnishings. The beds in our apartment were the best beds I've ever slept in. The wife agreed There are always people on the property which made it feel safe, not that it is needed. This part of the world is super secure and we regularly slept without locking the doors and sometimes forgot keys in our bike etc. I also really enjoyed the views from the roof which showed river to oneside and railway to another. This was a good spot for early morning yoga. Squirrels climb off the over hanging coconut trees and run around on the roof. Added bonus! I also enjoyed the walk from 02 Villas to the best surf point on weligama beach infront of W15. The walk takes approximately 15 mins. Not only was it a great warm up and cool down before and after surfing, but also a very relaxing walk home. After the fisherman's boats, there are hardly any people around when returning from town, leaving you alone to your thoughts. A few small coconut shacks and food spots along the way, incase you need some fuel. Highly recommend a stay at 02 Villas.

Reviewed By juliegH9758HYThis family run hotel is right in the heart of the action. The new rooms have a balcony and sea view and luxury new bathrooms. Very reasonable prices for such an amazing position by the sea. I was safe on my own and looked after by everyone around and woke up to have a lovely coffee with a view to die for. Yoga available around the corner and good choice of food in the area.

Guests will be able to dine in our restaurant or on their own balcony. Our small, friendly resort also offers a plunge pool to get out of the heat of the day. The aim of the resort is to provide unique accommodation. Our accessible cabana is The Peacock Cabana, if you require this cabana please ensure that you mention this at the time of booking.

The bungalows and the area around, as well as the beautiful pool are all very well maintained and clean. The general feeling of the place is fresh and clean air, sounds of animals and wind and amazing star-covered sky at night as no light pollution is present. You are also surrounded by local rice and cinnamon fields. The staff is very helpful, accommodating and truly enjoys and takes pride in what they do with the place. I would recommend this place to families, couples and friend groups alike, it offers something special for everybody!

Reviewed By dinam172At first I thought why would this simple place be included into Lonely Planet guide. But then I realized why. This place has its own spirit of positive experience. The staff is more than friendly. We booked Whales watching, tour to Udawalawe National park and ride from there so as spa. I’d like to underline the trip to Udawalawe cuz we booked it quite late and Poppies manager did his best to organize it for us right away. It was an amazing experience. Location is so perfect, close to the road and grocery shop but distant from traffic noise. Visal is the nicest person!

The breakfast is outstanding, the view of the sea even better. 1min to have a nice swim, and great spots in Hikkaduwa reachable by foot. Our room was the best one we had in whole Sri Lanka, direct view to the sea, very clean and all you need. Wifi good as well to watch movies. Highly recommend this place!! Would love to come back again.
