Alphen aan den Rijn (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑlfə(n) aːn də ˈrɛi̯n] ( listen), English: Alphen upon Rhine or Alphen on the Rhine) is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland, between Leiden and Utrecht. The town is situated on the banks of the river Oude Rijn (Old Rhine), where the river Gouwe branches off. The municipality had a population of 109,449 in 2017, and covers an area of 132.49 km (51.15 sq mi) of which 5.91 km (2.28 sq mi) is water.

THE place to be De munt food ⢠drinks! Good coffee, homemade pastry, best lunches, nice drinks, good food and the best gin tonics and cocktails! Good quality, meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan. De Munt has it all! De Munt is situated in an old bank building.

This is a very nice restaurant in many respects. The interior is very nice and excellent service. I think the chef also really knows how to cook as shown by the good taste of several of the dishes, with special compliments for the French fries. However, some serious problems need to be fixed. An almost complete lack of healthy vegetables is nowadays hardly acceptable anymore. Furthermore, all dishes were far too high on calories, e.g. the pumpkin soup, and especially the dessert was completely over the top with too much cookies and other stuffing ingredients. So if they adapt to modern times and give much more attention to healthy ingredients, that by the way most often can also taste great, this restaurant has a great future.

We visited Woodstone on a busy Friday evening. The restaurant was pleasantly full and happily bustling. The waitstaff had their hands full!We ordered the Tartufo and Carnivore pizzas. The crust was thin and crispy and you would expect from their beautiful wood-fired ovens. We found pizzas to be average as the toppings and sauce had no outspoken flavors to make them special.
