Alphen aan den Rijn (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑlfə(n) aːn də ˈrɛi̯n] ( listen), English: Alphen upon Rhine or Alphen on the Rhine) is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland, between Leiden and Utrecht. The town is situated on the banks of the river Oude Rijn (Old Rhine), where the river Gouwe branches off. The municipality had a population of 109,449 in 2017, and covers an area of 132.49 km (51.15 sq mi) of which 5.91 km (2.28 sq mi) is water.

Entrance fees are already steep, so why charge exorbitant €6,95. We're not located centrally so parking fee feels unnecessary.
That said, we arrived in the afternoon. With our Museumkaart free entrance. Great addition to the museumkaart!
Quite a stunning place. Nicely laid out by era. We did a quick tour around the park but next time likely will spent some more time.
Gladiator show nice for kids, skip it otherwise.

We were in Holland for two weeks - my dad and I (we are both adults) and we were staying with family from Schiedam, Holland. As animal lovers, my dad and I just loved this place! My cousin (who lives in Holland) had never been and she loved it as well. The show was absolutely amazing, and I really loved the fact that many of the birds were just walking around the grounds. They also had a ton of local birds that would just fly in and nest in the area. And the Lemur's were amazing to watch roam about my feet...beautiful grounds, lots of walking so make sure you wear some comfortable shoes. There's a fantastic playground for the kids, close to the restaurant. Lots of bathrooms and sitting areas if you need to stop for a rest or if you want to just sit and watch. Take your time, there's so much to see. Park entrance fees are reasonable and parking was free. Dress for the weather if you don't like the cold - I'm Canadian and don't like the cold but I dressed for it and I was fine. They have a great selection of birds from around the world, loved every minute and I would definitely go back. Bring your camera! lots of photo ops!

Zeer vriendelijk personeel en alles netjes
Mooie omkleedgelegenheid in tegenstelling tot vaak grotere wellnessen waar je vaak tegen elkaar staat om om te kleden, zo irritant.
Bij mooi weer ook een mooi buitenterras en sauna
Restaurant is niet al te groot. Toen wij er waren was t rustig maar als t druk is ben ik benieuwd of je niet moet wachten. Wel lekkere keuken.
Ga zeker nog eens terug.

Ik ben inmiddels al heel wat jaren lid van de PilatesClub in Alphen aan den Rijn. Door de klassieke pilates oefeningen heb ik een hernia operatie kunnen voorkomen. Het belangrijkste is dat bij de PilatesClub je ook elke keer aanwijzingen krijgt hoe je de oefening moet uitvoeren. Hoe wonderlijk vind ik het elke keer nog dat een hele kleine wijziging van b.v. de stand van je voet een hele grote verandering in het lichaam veroorzaakt.
Het mooie van de Pilatesclub is dat de persoonlijke aandacht die ik (en alle anderen) elke keer krijg, maakt dat ik dit nu al 4 jaar elke week volhoud !!

De omgeving is erg mooi en afwisselend. Langs weilanden, door plaatsjes, terrasjes, rechte stukken, kronkelende stukken, meren. Een heerlijk dagje relaxen op het water!

Today I went with my children to Alphen to meet a friend of mine and his son in Ballorig. It was our first time in an indoor playground from this chain and well it was a success.
We are familiar with Monkey Town and in comparison to that, well atleast the one in The Hague, this one seemed slightly bigger... here they had devided the place in several areas. on the gound floor you have a big self service counter for food... the play areas are as follows: children from 0-2, then 2-4 and finally a part for 4+... which includes slides, trampolines and a huge climbing area... In Monkey Town... you have two sections 0-4 and 4+... the difference here is mainly that in Monkey Town they also have a separate trampoline for the little ones....
Upstairs there are three parts... an indoor Soccer/Basketball court, a climbing wall and a "horse riding" arena...
All in all my children had no preference between Ballorig and Monkey Town..., but this surely is an improvement for Alphen, as they didn't have anything like this yet.
If you are staying in this area and the weather is bad or your looking for an indoor playground then this is surely the place to be!. In my opinion this is also better than the playground of Avifauna, although that one is outdoor and has higher slides... My preference would go to Ballorig.
It is clean, the staff did check a bit that the taller kids didn't go into the small kids areas and there is enough choice in food, so check it out if you happen to stay in or close to Alphen.

Een van Alphens top activiteit is de wet 'n wild kabelskibaan. Geweldig leuk om te zien maar ook erg leuk om te doen. Het is fantastisch om te zien hoe vooral de jeugd zijn kunsten vertoond. Voor zowel de beginnende als de gevorderde waterskiër is dit een leuke baan. Denk je dat je alles aankan? Er zijn zowel spring schansen als relingen. De laatste zijn bedoeld voor de wakeboarder. Tip: als je alleen wilt kijken zorg voor een leuke plek op het bijbehorende restaurant. Het gaat niet snel vervelen!

Local swimming pool.
3 indoor pools and 3 outdoor pools (of which a toddler pool was closed)
Nothing special but I'm for a couple of hours of waterfun.
Nice grass area, shame it has no direct view on outdoor (main) pool because of 3-4 ft high fence around it.

Hele dag gevaren. Super lekkere grote boot. Goed geregeld met een koelbox met ijs. Eventueel kan je ook een eten arrangement er bij nemen. Aanrader.

Het is een leuke escape room, maar is in vergelijking erg duur.
De `props' zaten ook niet overal vast genoeg.
Bij 1 van de puzzels brak een deel af.
Blijkbaar is hier niet voldoende onderhoud.
De kamer an Sich is erg leuk en een aanrader.
