Best food and atmosphere
Reviewed By N9248BFstephencWe did a 9 day tour around Sri Lanka and our last 3 nights were here. We ate the best food we have had in Sri Lanka yet. Friendly staff who even invited us to join in on his birthday celebrations the first night we got here. We enjoyed local singing and bongo playing. Absolutely recommend this place for anyone who is passing through Sigiriya. No need to go out for breakfast lunch or dinner as every meal was different. Rooms were a good size. We are a family of 5 and had 2 rooms with adjoining verandah so had plenty of space to relax and enjoy time together. The surroundings were so peaceful and quiet so you can replace and enjoy the peacefulness. 10/10 in my book. Thanks for an awesome finish to our tour.

Reviewed By HugoNathanColinAlWe had the luck to stay in this tiny but lovely place by the beginning of May 2022. There are only 3 rooms, and let me say, this place is AMAZING, same with service . The room (cabana or tree house) we had (for 4 people) is spacious, very clean, and very well maintained. Thumb up for the welcome drink and for the extra service they provided us! E.g. driver for the 5 days trip. Compared to all other places we have been, this was the best one!

Reviewed By katenjasperA lovely place to relax and unwind, the host family are very friendly and helpful and the home cooked food is very good. The cottages are fun and inviting and offer something that little bit different to a hotel. They are well equipped with WiFi, air con and fridges but we suggest taking your own beer or alcohol if you fancy a tipple on a night.

Super kind & helpful host, we enjoyed talking with the host and sharing valuable experiences for hours. Complementary drop of to watch the sunrise ? Very big and tasty homemade breakfast. Early check-in and a free breakfast. We stayed for one night and we got two breakfasts. Perfect location, walking distance to so many restaurants, coffee shops, supermarket, shops and touristics places. Comfy bed, big room and very relaxing atmosphere. Would love to visit again.

Reviewed By Marsman89We had a really good time at Liyon Rest! Lakmal was genuinely the best host we could wish for, a really kind and pure person. He picked us up from Anuradhapura when we arrived by train and drove us to his beautiful home which felt like being in the middle of the jungle. We had a comfortable room and delicious local food, mostly prepared from his own garden by his parents. We were sad to leave as he drove us to Kandy after visiting a few more landmarks on the way. Thank you and your lovely family a lot Lakmal!

Reviewed By Robertp199393We spent 3 days with the awesome guy. He was our driver and he also hosted us in his family’s apartments. The apartments were very cool in the middle of his jungle. Home-dinner was very big and tasty! The driver is super polite and he recommended us a few nice spots to see. Car is quite modern and big and he drove very safety. 10/10 - excellent time with him :) totally recommend his option.

Lal Homestay is a warm family place close (15 minute walk) to Sigirya Rock. Clean, big rooms with warm water, good wifi and delicious home cooked food are offered. Also all kinds of activities (jeep safari, bicycle hire, transport etc.) can be organized. Lal Homestay is on the main road next to new Sigiri restaurant. Though not signposted the white house is easily recognizable from the main road.
Peaceful place to stay with excellent food
Reviewed By 232olliemWe visited Lal with our young family recently. The owners really treated us like part of the family, and were fantastic with our children. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and we found the place very relaxing. The owners are lovely and cooked us some wonderful meals. They went to extra effort to go and get ingredients for some foods we had not yet tasted in Sri Lanka, such as Banana Flower and Jackfruit. The owners gave us a lot of help, and assisted us in booking Tuk Tuks and a drivers (the driver wasn't the cheapest, so probably worth shopping around). Overall, this was a great value stay (for both accommodation and food). We also loved visiting Sigirya. Well worth the UNESCO entry fee, which is more than many Sri Lankan attractions, but is well looked after and not covered in garbage.
