Eating Hot Pot is an amazing experience - but it can be difficult to handle as a foreigner not speaking Chinese. However, at Haidilao Hot Pot they will go the extra mile to help you choose your food! Even if that means having to use a tablet with written sentences! The quality of the food was also super tasty and the portions were quite big! It is not super cheap, but definitely worth it! Make a reservation though on Fridays or Weekend - otherwise you might have to wait a while for a table (although their waiting area is delightfull and comes with games, free snacks and tea/water!)

Din Tai Fung Restaurant is famous for its xiaoling bao (soup dumpling). You can watch them make the dumplings. The are several of these upscale restaurants throughout Shanghai and China. We especially like the pork xiaoling bao. Also great is the spicy shrimp dumpling and the pork chop with fried rice. I put the fried rice in the spicy shrimp dumpling sauce which makes a great combination. The hot and sour soup and the drunken chicken are also great dishes. To round things out, Din Tai Fung Restaurant also offers vegetable dishes and other small plates and soups. There are really good local restaurants that also serve the similar bao and dishes at a much more reasonable prices.

We had an early evening meal here after reading the tripadvisor reviews and very glad we did. All of the food was great, especially the ginger pork. The white house wine was fine and went well with the food. The service was very good, with friendly waiters who all spoke good English. Definitely recommended.

My daughter and I celebrated my last evening in town visiting her. We are so glad that we chose Jin Xuan for our last dinner. We were seated at a window table with sweeping views of The Bund. Our waiter, Claude, provided friendly and attentive service. The food was delicious and unique - we had dishes that we never had eaten before. I ordered the rock shrimp with black truffle (one of the signature dishes of Jin Xuan) and my daughter offered the beef and tomato fried rice. Our dessert - sesame balls with egg yolk - was amazing. We did not expect it to be so delicious. Again, we had never had this dessert before. What a wonderful way to spend my last evening in Shanghai! We will return!Dear VeronicaJKo,Warmest greetings from the Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong and thank you for your review on TripAdvisor community. It is our pleasure to know that you and your daughter have enjoyed the dinner time at Jin Xuan.
