Great place to stay in Saarland
Reviewed By BmoreTravI usually book my rooms via Hotels.com. In their listings they list not just the price but also the ratings from their readers as well as the TripAdvisor rating. What made me notice this was the Superb rating and the affordable price of $70. When I'm traveling on business solo, I look for as nice a hotel as possible for under US$100/night - and that's not too far from where I am having meetings. The Leonardo fit that bill quite well. Located in Volklingen, a suburban town about 16 kilometers from Saarbrucken (my meeting was in central Saarbrucken), it's a short drive away. The town of Volklingen is an old industrial town with a large steel mill and a UNESCO Heritage Site within the town limits. Otherwise, it's rather sleepy compared to Saarbrucken. When I arrived in town at 9:30pm it was pretty much quiet and asleep. I don't imagine there's much nightlife going on here, if that's what you're looking for. The hotel is on the hillside and is decorated in a modern contemporary fashion. It's nicely done but if you're looking for an old German setting, this is not it. The lobby is spacious and the bar and restaurant are just off the reception desk and by the elevators. It seems like this hotels cater to business clientele because it's the usual scene of business travelers hanging out at the bar having a drink or two.

Reviewed By hhsolThis is a luxury hotel, and lives to it’s name, we had a wonderful vacation here, and would probably love to come back, however there were a few little details that could have taken this to the next level, and unfortunately didn’t. 1. Our first room wouldn’t open, we got another room, an “upgrade “ that actually was a downgrade, the first room was newly renovated, the second was tired. 2. No electric socket next to the bed. Really? It’s 2021, I can’t remember the last hotel that didn’t have a place for me to recharge my phone next to the bed. 3. In the Pool / jacuzzi the jets weren’t working, also the wet sauna wasn’t functioning. However the food was great, service lovely, and the overall experience very good!

Very nice hotel with a very surly waiter in the restaurant for dinner
Reviewed By MargaretinParisThe hotel was much nicer than what I was expecting except for the surly waiter at dinner. I got a very nice welcome at reception by Miss Stein on arrival. The room was nice overlooking the garden with a comfortable bed but I could hardly squeeze past the toilet into the tight-fitted shower in the corner. I went to the indoor pool which was about 15 metres long and quite wide and had a very nice swim. There were sunbeds next to the pool and there was a sauna with showers nearby. The fitness room was tiny and under-equipped so I didn't bother using it. They should at least add a decent bike like a Life Fitness bike and a treadmill. I had dinner in the hotel and the food was fine but the service wasn't. It would be nice if the waiter could be a little bit more friendly instead of seeming like he's just waiting it out until he can retire. I couldn't understand either why I had to fill in a form to eat there when I was a guest at the hotel and had showed my Covid sanitary pass on check-in. Overall I was pleased with the stay and will come back next time I'm in the area (once the waiter has retired).

2 Michelin star at La Maison Saarlouis
Reviewed By Clive JAlthough we no longer live in Saarland, when we do return our trips are full of lasting fond memories. So was our return to La Maison hotel. We had heard their fine dining restaurant Louis had been awarded a second Michelin star, which we thought was a good excuse to visit Saarland again. We stayed 2 nights and had a garden facing room in the very well designed annex. The room was high quality, even had a small balcony. We reserved a table in both restaurants, one per night. The Paris Bistro dinner is good but the menu is small. On the other hand breakfast is buffer style and outstanding. The 2 star restaurant is astonishingly tops and worth every € paid. The quality, the details to perfection, the service, the room are outstanding and this team is worth a trip to Saarlouis just to experience a very high quality 2 star Michelin restaurant.

Reviewed By Stefan RAs I have never ben to Saarbrücken I visited this nice town early October 2021. The hotel is very nicely located near the city-centre, on the river Saar. However, on the far side of the Saar there's a city-motorway, which effectively impedes to keep windows-open (noise). The room 218 was very nice and large. Breakfast was good and did the trick. Otherwise nothing spectacular to say about this hotel.

Nice hotel, Great location
Reviewed By Milo1967We spend three nights in this hotel. We arrived late due to traffic but that was not a problem. Check in was swift and friendly. There are enough parking spaces in front of the hotel for which you get a card, identifying you as a hotel guest. The rooms are modern, clean and with a nice bathroom. The room has a safe, desk and a balcony. Our room (129) was on the street side so we did not have a view like other members of our family did in room 003 (ground floor). At the end of the day it is busy on the street side due to the nearby restaurant but at night it is very quiet. The beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is good with a large selection of bread, cereal, cheese, meat, eggs, drinks, yoghurt etc. This hotel is a great place as a starting point for trips in the area.

Reviewed By troddVery close to the French border. Wonderful staff who all welcomed our little dog very kindly and there was a special 'welcome pack' and bowl for him in the room. Whole place immaculately clean. One problem.... We needed to leave quite promptly in the morning and the breakfast procedure does not make this easy to do. You have to wait to be seated and that took a while. Once seated, our area waitress visited the table next to us three times WITHOUT coming to us and asking what we wanted. We left without eating in the end.

Reviewed By Ales HTypical IBIS hotel, doesn't disapoint, neither it fully satisfy. This one is well placed, 10 min walk from the city, convenion free parking on the street on weekends. On the other hand, not the most comfortable beds. All in all, 1 night stay is fine.
