Rose Hall All-inclusives | Places to Stay in Rose Hall

May 19, 2023 Marissa Gamble

Rose Hall is named for its centerpiece The Rose Hall Great House, a purportedly haunted eighteenth-century plantation home.  For those tempted by Jamaican folklore, The Rose Hall Great House offers an eerie and memorable night tour by candlelight.  For those seeking outdoor pleasures, the surrounding area delivers with its astounding Montego Bay Marine Park, as well as rafting on the Martha Brae River, a truly romantic experience.

i chose this property for its location i had stayed there several years back when it was a ritz carlton hoping for continuity in service and care however i was sadly disappointed. room types requested were not granted and the rooms we received seemed lived in. Multiple arguments with front desk staff and multiple room changes. Broken elevator for days! bugs in room! these are just a few of the problems we encountered.

Its the little things/lack of consistency

Reviewed By Alison G

It’s our last night here. I had to write this because it was the last straw for my disappointment. Firstly, like other reviews mention, the grounds are well kept, staff are always cleaning/sweeping. Many of the staff are extremely nice and very helpful. Only a handful that didn’t offer a smile. We stayed in the noisy tower called Sentry. It has an active pool, playing music most of the day and games. We are one floor above the buffet restaurant, the Pelican grill, the steak restaurant and the Caribbean restaurant. Needless to say, this tower and our room smelt of fried food 24 hrs/day. I really cannot rate the food/restaurants higher than 2/5. It is sub par. Not even the French fries are good! Let me say this…. Check in was very quick and easy. No welcome drink offered. We went to our room which had only 1 washcloth and 1 towel, no hand towels or shower mat on day 1. Day 2 we came to our room twice and had no bathroom towels etc. We had to call for them AGAIN and received them at 4:16pm. Day 3 our last day (yay) we got 3 extra towels, no washcloths. I give up! Tried to get an ice bucket with ice and 2 flutes for our anniversary champagne we bought with us. That was like jumping through hoops. No cups, no coffee making, nothing like that in room except drinks in fridge. We decided to run the bath and experience the lovely soaking tub. We used the last of our shower gel for the bubbles. We twisted the large knob inside the bath to trap the water, no plug in site. Well, the darn water started going down the drain with slurpy sounds. We were left with bubbles in an empty bath. We were p*ssed!! That was the last straw for me. There is a Split in the wood of the door so we can see daylight outside. No tall dressing mirror No boxes of Kleenex in room or bathroom No replacement shower gel No salt, pepper etc at tables in dining rooms/restaurants Good Small buffet Breakfast room but a nice choice. Lovely coffee/ice cream shop Bedroom in Sentry tower modern and bright. Plenty of seating and storage in room (Deluxe ocean view room) Hotel furnishings and decor very nice in Sentry block Simply said, I will not be coming back. Plus there are some staff at the sentry pool bar that only gave great service if you were greasing their palm with $tips. What a shame! I decided to give the Jewel brand a try but NEVER AGAIN. They are not consistent especially with anything that needs to be replaced in the bathroom, food or drinks. Sorry folks, it wasn’t for us.

Ocean view room with a Butler and nightly turndown service… From reception to checkout everything was great. Letresha in the breakfast service area was very helpful and friendly. Sharon in house keeping kept our room in immaculate condition. Our favorite butler was Teriann, who responded immediately to any of our requests. The Jamaican buffet next to the beach had amazing offerings during lunch service. Favorite restaurant for dinner was Japanese and surf and turf.

Exceptional Service by on-site staff

Reviewed By ChicagoLisa07

The best thing about this wonderful property is the staff. In particular, the restaurant staff and the Star Club team (Jeaneal, Britannia, Nadisha, and Melissa) were exceptional with our 6 and 8 year old. The pools were clean and well maintained. The beach was pleasant, with the exception of the vendors who borderline harassed my family to buy items from them. We booked a family suite, which was a double queen room connected to a king. The shower and bath were dated but clean. Amenities were in refillable bottles and difficult to dispense, but I appreciate the environmental reasons for avoiding individual bottles. In fact, one of my favorite features is that the hotel has filtered water dispensers through the hallways, which really should be a feature of any hotel in today's world. The food at the restaurants were pretty good, especially the Smokehouse, which is located at the next resort down but accessible to the guests of the Suites. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was perfectly adequate, although I'm still leery of buffets in a post-Covid world. My husband witnessed a group of kids run directly in front of him and grab bacon from the tray with their bare hands. Parents who don't teach their kids how to be civilized isn't the fault of the resort, of course, but it would be helpful to have someone monitoring the stations to ensure there are not sanitation violations. My only complaints about the property is related to communication. I had read reviews here on TripAdvisor about difficulty booking restaurants. As such, I contacted the hotel a couple weeks before our arrival to attempt to reserve tables, but I didn't get a response to the two emails I sent. Upon arrival, the check-in process was excruciatingly long, despite that I checked in on-line and uploaded all of our passport info. When we finally got our room keys, we were sent to the concierge to arrange reservations for our stay. The dinner restaurants do not open until 6:30pm, so with little kids we were hoping to get the first seatings to avoid meltdowns. We were able to get 6:30pm reservations 3 out of 4 nights. We did room service for the one night without a reservation by ordering through the Iberostar app, and the experience was very disappointing. The staff was clearly very overwhelmed because it took about an hour to receive the food, and the plates were basically thrown at our door with no silverware or napkins. Some of our items were missing or wrong, and when I tried to call the phones in the rooms (both of them) didn't work. The food was the worst of our stay, although our kids were happy with their cheeseburgers. All in all, it was a great visit, and I am extremely grateful to the hospitality of the staff for making us feel so welcome.

IBEROSTAR IS THE BEST PLACE FOR VACATIONING!

I visited Iberostar and there was a little hiccup. The Managers, Dean etal, responded promptly and did everything in their power to correct the issue at hand. I am grafeful to Chef Percival and Marcus. They went out of their way to ensure that our stay was great. That visit in October 2021 was my 6th visit in 12 months to Iberostar. We were so grateful for the couteous staff and how they ensured that we were comfortable and taken care of. I have no reservation in recommending Iberostar as the vacation destination, as their overall service was great and their customer service is to be envied by the surrounding hotels. How could I forget to mention the reservations manager, Ms. Green. She is simply the best. She is very accommodating and responsive to the unique needs of her clients, and does everything in her power to ensure that your vacation is a memorable one.I have already started making plans to celebrate my birthday week with my friends and family at Iberostar October 2022!?
