Capital Hotel 1000

It is representative hotel in Rikuzentakata city, Iwate prefecture. The hotel has 40 rooms and all the rooms are twin rooms. KAISEKI is the culinary delight to everyone. Please enjoy the dishes we can boast about. As for the way to come to this area, please come to Ichinoseki station by bullet train, then please go to Rikuzentakata station by using the BRT bus via Kesennuma station on JR Ohtakei line. After that we will arrive at the hotel in about 10 minutes by taxi. There are many access methods. Sanriku road from Sendai by car. From Hanamaki Airport take cars to Kamaishi Road - Route No. 340. A representative tourist attraction is the Hirota area where you can see the rias coast. "KISEKI-NO-IPPONMATSU" which survived by the 2011 tsunami damage is also famous.

Rugby World Cup visit

Stayed here to attend the Namibia-Canada game in Kamaishi, a bit further up the coast - alas, the game was called off on account of the typhoon. Nevertheless we enjoyed the hotel tremendously - the staff did ever so well to make our stay comfortable. They were helpful, supportive, and even regretful when the game was cancelled. The hotel is absolutely modern and most functional. Everything works and is spotlessly clean. The room is well appointed and not cluttered. I opened the window (it opens just a bit) in order to hear the lovely rain sounds outside. The town is still being rebuilt - a totally humbling sight indeed. The loss of 10% of the town's population in the tsunami is scarcely imaginable. Everyone knows someone who was lost. Yet, the demeanour of the town is uplifting, positive, and hopeful. The surroundings of the town are stunning - well worth a day driving small roads into the mountains. The Memorial Museum is also worth going to. Back to the hotel.....the meals were excellent (always a pleasant surprise receiving either the breakfast bento or the set dinner) - and the onsen was spotless and tidy. All in all, a great 2 day stay.....even if the game was cancelled :-(

Tamanoyu

Tamanoyu, an unexplored land of peace in IWATE Tamanoyu is a traditional Ryokan with hot-spring resort in takekoma town, which is located in the Rikuzentakata city. The rooms in Tamanoyu and the mineral spring gushed out from Mt. Tama always make people relax physically and mentally. Take along route-340(in Rikuzentakata city), in the direction from takekomaekimae station to the ichinoseki region , until you see a signboard「世界大遺跡玉山・・」beside the 「竹駒食堂」canteen. That is the entrance. Then please continute driving towards the top of Mt. Tama, you can see the signboards written「玉乃湯」beside the road in every kilometer. Altough they are not the same design, but it could be kind of fun to find out one by one. Along the way, there are also some historical remains waiting for people to find out. If you are interested in the Japanese history, it must be fascinating to imagine it like a time-trip between Nara period and Heian period. The Kinzan on Mt. Tama used to be one of the largest gold mine in Japan. Altough the gold has been almost dug out, it is one of the oldest gold mine in Japan. Gold of Kinzan had been used to make the statues of Buddha in Todai-ji Temple and in Hiraizumi Chuson-ji Temple. Perhaps it is the Konjikidou in Hiraizumi town, which made the country of Japan famous as a Golden Country by Marco Polo, who might have influenced the Western countries to the Age Of Wind. The mineral spring gushed out from Mt. Tama contains much metaboric acid, this kind of acid has good effect to asthenopia and sore waist. Also, it can help people relax physically and mentally. To be flexible and to make a more relaxing mineral spring, we put special Japanese herb into the water. For example, the water in reseda is made of mugworts, the water in light pink is made of Lindera, and the water in milky color is made of soy beans, and the water in creamy color is made of dolabrata. Basing on seasons, pleasant smell and color changes in Tamanoyu. We feel confident to introduce and welcome everybody to enjoy our hot spring. Containing best wishes for everyone’s healthy life, it will be a great pleasure for us to hear customer saying ”It’s so happy to be here”. So, please feel free to let us know your suggestion. Again, for the revival of Rikuzentakata city, thank you for reading, we are always looking forward to your visiting here in Tamanoyu.

Overnight at Tamanoyu

So we traveled with at least 20 people and we were looking for a place to stay that could accomdate all of us. We found Tamanoyu, it's a beautiful area to stay. They have two separate onsens (One is the public onsen (separated to male & female) that if you pay to go in you could get in without staying as a hotel guest and then there is a second onsen (separated to male and female) that is open 24 hours to hotel guests.) We were in a separate wing which was on the same side as the private onsen for the hotel guests. The hotel is on a beautiful location. Some of our group was able to go on a hike around the property. We all enjoyed the onsen. You have the chance of being able to see wildlife around the property. It was just a nice peaceful place to retreat and feel recharged.
