We had been recommended this restaurant by a local and we were certainly not disappointed; we ate here twice in our four-day visit. At first sight it is unprepossessing, entered through a small, dark bar area. However, once inside, it is a different story. Up the stairs is the intimate main eating room. The food is wonderful: fresh, beautifully cooked and perfectly delicious. The wines are also very good; it is in the Douro Valley after all! (Other drinks are, of course, available.) If you are in the area, put A Tasca do Zequinha at the top of your list.

O restaurante é simples. Com uma sala algo fria mas com uma vista engraçada para o vale do rio da Teixeira.
O staff não é especialmente simpático mas servem rapidamente.
A comida é simples e de qualidade média.
Os preços são acessíveis.
Serve para desenrascar quem está na região e precisa de comer num sitio prático.

Really. This restaurant has everything you desire. An amazing view, lots of outdoor space for kids to play and absolutely helpful and efficient waiters.
We came here for two evening meals, recommended by the Quinta de CasalMato next doors and were not disappointed. Do ask for a table outside though!! The inside of the restaurant is a little 'cold' with the typical neon lights.
The waiter set us s beautiful table outside and 6 of us shared usually two main dishes (plenty for us!) as they always bring salads, beans, rice, potatoes etc.
Maybe it helps speaking fluent Portuguese (I don't know if they could be as helpful with English) and being with Portuguese locals but we thought that the staff were absolutely amazing and the food top of the range. The house wine at €5 a bottle was a great discovery. We tried quite a few different and not expensive wines over the two evenings! Come here for a great outdoor dining experience and an incredibly relaxing atmosphere.

This restaurant is where you must go if you want real Portuguese food in a beautiful setting! It can be tricky to find you just have to keep heading for the Hippocentre. No hippos, just horses. If you get to a dirt track road then you are going in the right direction. When you arrive the view is magnificent! The welcome is very friendly and you can get stuck into the starters. Alheira (chicken sausage), onion with red wine and fabulous ham! You must drink your wine from a mug, that's the best! Main courses were succulent roast lamb and lovely fresh Bacalhau! For desert we had Leite Creme and then tried the local liquor and Agua Dente ( firewater) which were fantastic! What a great day! If you want to really eat Portuguese style, then make a visit to this lovely Tasquina!

Huge portions. Fresh and tasty food. They make you feel like you are eating in their home. You know it's good because it's filled with locals. We were the only foreigners. We enjoyed the owner's vinho verde, as well as his port, which he gave us on our way out. If you're looking for the real thing, this place is it. Probably best to eat whatever the daily special is that day. No one ordered from the menu.

We receive guests from all over the world and we always recommend O Meu Gatinho, mainly because we know for sure that the attendance will be 5-star! Pay attention to the desserts - top!

Regarding the bill... This is a very good surprise :) cheaper than average restaurant!!
