Portugal Campgrounds | Places to Stay in Portugal

Portugal’s Mediterranean charm is most prominent on the golden beaches of the Algarve; in the wilderness of the Azores islands; among the vineyards of Douro Valley; and on the cobbled streets of Lisbon and Porto, where old-world culture meets cosmopolitan bars and restaurants.

We drive to and from Portugal from the U.K. twice a year, normally we stay in hotels but decided to try something different this trip.. How lucky to stubble on this beautiful place ! Highly recommend for everyone. We got there for dinner and went to the restaurant. It cost around €24 each for the buffet and unlimited drinks including wine and beer !!!! The man on the desk on entering the restaurant was so lovely. He later saw me waiting for a drink and came over and served me, I don’t actually think it was his job to but as the waiter was busy he helped.. the staff are very friendly and kind. The food was so delicious and all fresh. The choice of food is large with gorgeous salads and pastas great for vegetarians.. massive thank you to your lovely business and well done for having such a great team. We will see you later in the year. P.S they are dog friendly x

O Homem Verde

We are a small yurt camp that offers an exotic safari type experience in one of our two comfortable and stylish yurts. Set on south facing terraces, on the edge of woodland, the calls of nearby dear and owls can be heard often while gazing into the stars from the veranda of your yurts - breathe deep and let go! Just peace and quiet

Reviewed By Lambda75

Helped by a dry, sunny weather, we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the yurt. Were it to rain the experience might be spoiled by mud in the unkept ground surrounding it and the danger associated with an access through a very rough stone path/steps which will surely become very slippery. The facilities are ok, but seem to have seen better days and to have been cleaner...once. Peace and quiet galore, could be much improved with very little effort. Nice try, though and good location!

Perfect for a visit to Lamegos

Reviewed By Bazzamat

A small site with limited space between vehicles but well worth a visit. The hosts were extremely friendly and if you are able to get a space by the wall you get great views over Lamego. An added bonus is that you can get a key that gives you access to a short road that will take you to Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remedios in 10 minutes. The washing up block was immaculate.

Excellent camp site

Reviewed By nevertoooldUk

We found this site by chance and stayed 2 nights 9 & 10th Jan 2017. Its no longer the "Municipal site" but privately run. Lovely wooden bungalows for hire round edge of site. They allowed us to stay in our motorhome although the site was technically closed. We had mains electric but the toilets were closed for the season so they allowed us to use the bathroom of one of the bungalows. Excellent recycling bins and motorhome service point. Staff couldn't be more helpful even though they didnt have much English. Well kept site which we found really handy as we have dogs and its often difficult to find places to exercise them. There was nice walk up a lane at the back of the campsite, but we enjoyed the walks through the municipal gardens down in the valley between the campsite and Miranda. It is an easy walk through the gardens to visit Miranda. Would go back there again.

Small, friendly campsite in a very picturesque location

Reviewed By Bazzamat

A relatively compact campsite for Campervans, with a lot of space given to their own hut accommodation, and additional space for tents. Would get fully booked up in high season so worth booking ahead. Friendly and attentive staff. The toilet block was immaculate (no toilet paper). There is only a basic snack bar on site and most of the restaurants in the area are in Gerês which is a deceptively long drive away, especially if you have a campervan or RV as the roads in the area are very twisty indeed! Worth a visit to the small family restaurant 10 minutes walk away in Ermida if you are happy with very simple menu.

One of the best campings in Portugal

Reviewed By MRSteinvoort

This camping is one of the best and nicest campings we have visited in Portugal. It is small and quiet, very clean and has large pitches. It has a small swimming pool and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The owners are very enthusiastic, always make time for you and do their utmost to make your stay a pleasant one. They also provide a small binder with nice spots in the environment. Have a good look at this because they also mention a few beautiful hidden places you won’t find in the regular travel books! If we are in this area again we will definitely visit camping Pelinos again.

3 Night Stay

Reviewed By Albufeiraman

Having recently purchased our campervan we planned a tour of Portugal with friends, in their camper, who were returning to the UK. Our first night was here after a lunch break in Mertola. What a gem of a campsite, run by an extremely friendly and helpful Dutch couple. Found a great pitch that took both motorhomes, The facilities were excellent, toilets and showers clean, outdoor swimming pool and a small shop at reception for drinks etc. This campsite is within easy reach of Estremoz and the Borba wine region. Will definitely be back.
