The Peradeniya Rest House is a 200 year old colonial type bungalow, and was once home to Captain Dawson, who undertook the Colombo-Kandy road construction project in 1820. Today, the location is popular with locals and tourists alike. In 1948, the building was taken over by the Kandy Municipality and converted to a rest house.

Reviewed By 45lasithaudespite of my over the phone booking they have given my requested room to another guest and denied my booking. so i have to get another room for different price. but otherwise hotel is comfortable, clean and worth for the money i have spent. ggod spacious room and delicious food. service was reasonable with friendly staff.

THE WORST PLACE TO STAY AT KANDY

They have simply uploaded edited pictures to internet and collect advance from travelers so that they don't refund them the cash back. please avoid booking this hotel. No safe parking area, No common area, No TV, No WiFi, No water bottles provided to the rooms. Unwashed bed sheet . Not safe for children at all.There is no proper kitchen/equipment or cutlery for cooking. The guest were not provided with drinking water. The food given by the cook in the bungalow is raw and cannot consume.The natural pool is not available.The owner is very unethical.

Idyllic Location
Reviewed By Lynsey CI spent two nights here with my family. The location of the hotel is great if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy. Our two bedroom apartment was perfect for 4 of us and the two swimming pools were great. The best thing about our stay was the service provided by Nimal who worked in the bar and restaurant. He made excellent cocktails and went out of his way to provide outstanding customer service. Manjula the manager is very helpful and also went out of his way to make sure that we had a pleasant stay.

Yalegoda walauwa is a heritage home stay villa. this is situated in peradeniya from kandy city. from peradeniya botanical gardens 3kms interior. only takes 10 minutes from the gardens.ancient temples (gadaladeniya, embakke, lankathilaka) very close to our homestay. To kandy city center only 7kms from our homestay. it takes only 20 minutes by tuk tuk. our home stay is surrounded by mahogany trees and very large beautiful garden.Guests who wants peace and tranquility will like our homestay a lot. we have 03 double rooms and 02 triple rooms one double room is A/c. one double room is separate with balconey and all facilities. if you want to travel nuwaraeliya only 52kms and takes only one and ahlaf (1 1/2)hours drive.

Reviewed By voyageurlyonnais58We warmly recommend this guesthouse. The owners are so friendly. It was a pleasure to be there with this family. The bedroom is large and comfortable. The garden is so nice and to have breakfast outside in the morning is so peaceful with the birds around you. The diner was great with a good diversity and very well balanced. We enjoyed the place even it is a little bit far away from Kandy. As we had our driver, it was not a real problem.

Comfortable, Clean and great Host
Reviewed By Andreas BWe arrived for two nights to a comfortable, and clean hose for eleven people. We also discovered a fantastic and helpful host in 'Ravi' and his wife. Not only did he help us organise our activities in Kandy, he also helped to organise our onward discovery of Sri Lanka. The host couple also created two very delicious dinners and wonderful breakfasts. This is the first house we stayed in in Sri Lanka which i would qualify as clean and well equipped. I can recommend this house in the hills over Kandy.

Reviewed By TGDC1234My first advice is NEVER book this place. I have book this place 10 days prior and and they inform to me that they cant give the room because of water supply problem. What I understood was was 1.The ower takes multiple unofficial bookings to same rooms on same days and he select the most valuable one and inform others at the last moment that the rooms are not available . 2. According to him, there is no alternative solution for emergency water supply breakdowns . 3.They said that they inform this in the morning ,but message time stamp showed it was sent after the telephone call on unavailability . 4.Owner promised me to find an alternative place,and it was horrible and expensive than his room.When I informed him regarding that,he was unhappy and never came with another place as he promised. 5.Never trust this place who do cheap quality things on bookings and put the travellers in deep trouble at the last moment . 6.Suggest to remove this place and recommendations from this site

Reviewed By Karen LMy two youngest daughters and I had a wonderful stay at Tea Leaf Retreat before returning to Negombo to meet the rest of our family. We had such a great stay that my family began counting how many times I mentioned Mary during our holiday! Mary really is the most fantastic host with delicious meals and cups of tea and interesting conversations. I was so appreciative of her going the extra mile to make sure we got train tickets and got on the right train for our first train trip and my daughters enjoyed their time with Amy and riding on Josh's zipline. The setting is also beautiful and peaceful, even the monkeys jumping on the roof in the morning was entertaining, and it was a real treat to have a pool right outside our bedrooms. It was the perfect combination of a treat(and a retreat) and a homestay(staying with a Sri Lankan family and learning more about their country from another point of view) I would definitely recommend a visit here!

We have 15 luxurious rooms with A/C, cable TV connections, high speed internet connections (WiFi), a flat screen TV and a king sized bed with air mattresses. We also have a friendly staff who will daily clean your room and help you with what you need.
Main door of the hotel was locked at night
Reviewed By ddkkqMy family members stayed in this place last week. When they were trying to leave the hotel in the early morning, the main door of the hotel was locked. The phone was also disconnected. Although the room and the food was OK, never recommend this place because there is no way to leave the hotel at night in a case of emergency such as a sudden illness or a fire.
