Theo's Restaurant

Theo's is a family run Greek restaurant which opened in 1976. We use fresh produce from our garden when available and work with our local farmers and suppliers in the Okanagan valley to provide a menu which is both rooted in Greek village cooking and inspired by Okanagan ingredients.

Have recently moved to Penticton and have had 2 dinners at this lovely restaurant. We have been to Greece and the atmosphere and food is reminiscent of anything found on the Islands of Kos, Mykonos or Rhodes. Have had the Greek ribs and shank of lamb which are excellent. Very nice menu and the service id top drawer. Try the home made ice cream, simply the best.

I used to love coming here but the last few times I came the older lady who works there just gives me the nastiest looks. Makes me so uncomfortable. I thought maybe I was overreacting and even brought my sister in. She was shocked to see the lady just scowling at us. I believe she may be racist or something. It ruins the whole experience as I feel so uncomfortable even going in. Maybe she is just a rude old lady because come to think of it there was a time she hung up on me while I was ordering Takeout. I was only able to order half the items I wanted. Will start going elsewhere.

We've usually had lunch in the sun at Hillside. This time we went for dinner on a chilly evening.
The room was warm and cozy. Service was solid. The menu encourages sharing. That's always a pain with only two people. I wish restaurants would forget that concept.
Anyway, that personal geipe aside, the food was very good. We ordered too many dishes. The portions turned out to be a bit bigger than we anticipated. I suggest starting with one or two dishes and ordering more if necessary. We ordered everything at once. It came out in kind of haphazard order. That was a roomie mistake on our part.
Hillside Bistro makes an excellent choice for an evening put with friends. With only two of us we would be more selective in our menu selections, but would still go back.

Wild Scallion

Reviewed By funtravels4me - British Columbia, Canada

It was not the plan to go to Wild Scallion but the other restaurants in the area were closed this Monday for lunch and we had already parked the car in a metered zone.
We sat in a nice outdoor Seating area and browsed through the menu. ' Where is the meat?' I said to my friend. It seems we were in a mostly Vegan restaurant and there was only one meat option -- teriyaki chicken. The server helped us with the menu and we both finally chose the noodle bowl with teriyaki chicken. She warned us that it was on the hot side. It was a lovely looking dish - I even took a picture of it. The server was right - it had some heat to it! However, it was very tasty and enjoyable. It had a number of raw vegetables as well as mushrooms. The noodles were rice noodles so appropriate for gluten free people. In fact, most of their menu is gluten free. We couldn't finish the dish so we brought the rest of it home.
Lunch was a delightful surprise. The next time I'm in Penticton, I will go to Wild Scallion by choice!
