This place tops everything you have seen with Steaks. They have special US Steaks that melts in your mouth. The service is awesome and you will be delighted by everything. Of course, the price meets the quality.

Forsthaus Lahnquelle

Let's start out with the positives:The location is really, really nice - the restaurant has a large outdoor area right next to the Lahn spring (which isn't much to look at, by the way). There is a small play area for kids - which was a big draw for us since we were traveling with our daughter. Other kids were also present, which ensured that we could eat dinner without having to entertain our daughter, who just spent her time with the other kids in the playground. They also had a bunch of bunnies, which the kids really liked. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and courteous - despite the hot weather. We order to main dishes (a Schnitzel as well as a Pork steak) and some potato pancakes. Food arrived quickly and looked pretty decent. My first bite of the Schnitzel was unsatisfactory. Sure, it tasted fine, but the meat was very, very tough - not to the point where it wasn't edible, but it was certainly much less than ideal. Clearly, the chef is not familiar with proper cooking techniques for pork and had seemingly approached it like beef. To me, this was very disappointing. My spouse fared no better - he pork was very tough as well. Again, a sign that the chef is not overly familiar with proper techniques for cooking pork. Both dishes came with a sauce - mine was a mushroom sauce and my spouse's came with a pepper cream sauce. Despite the use of fresh mushrooms in my sauce, I couldn't help but wonder if the base, at the very least, had come out of a can or worse yet, was created from a powder mix. The same was true for the pepper cream sauce. It difficult to fool a connoisseur - and I don't think my estimation of the sauces is off.The potato pancakes were absolutely sorry. They were frozen, prepared potato patties that can be found in any grocery store. Frankly, I can get such crap at any Imbiss - I do NOT want or expect it at a restaurant. Here, I expect pancakes that were actually made on the premises - and not mass-produced in a large factory setting.Overall, I would not come back for anything other than cold refreshments. Perhaps some cake and coffee - but certainly not dinner.
