The town is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northwest of Amsterdam in the Randstad metropolitan area, north of the North Sea Canal very close to the North Sea coast. A railway tunnel and two motorway tunnels cross the canal between Beverwijk and the nearby city of Haarlem on the south bank.

Tucked away in a quiet side street, the décor of this charming, small taverna is like a step back in time. Feau Ionic pillars and plaster busts of Grecian deities abound. Its a comfortable stereotype. The food is a distinct cut above. The rich flavours are authentic, portions generous, prepared with high quality ingredients. The owner himself handles most of the service and really makes you feel 'sto spiti' (at home).

Rich with all the sights, sounds and aromas of a busy Athenian taverna. The food is authentic rather than packaged-for-export. Super service. Great Greek wines per carafe.

Central location in IJmuiden on a square. We made a reservation in advance, was needed probably, because the restaurant was packed full at 19:00. We think this restaurant is popular for the locals in IJmuiden. Nice ambiance in a Greek environment! Food is good, but not the best. We did the tapas, which was about 23.50 per person excluded the drinks and dessert. You can choose 5 tapas per round and go on unlimited. Anyway with the Greek food you'll be done after 3 or 4 rounds. The serveral kind of meat tapas we didn't love that much, the rest we took was fine.

The menu offers the usual (and some less usual) Greek dishes. Service is relaxed but excellent of the homely 'join-us-at-the-kitchen table' variety. The portions are generous, made with high-quality ingredients, so Olympia also offers great value for money.
