Beverwijk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌbeːvərˈʋɛi̯k] ( listen)) is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The town is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northwest of Amsterdam in the Randstad metropolitan area, north of the North Sea Canal very close to the North Sea coast. A railway tunnel and two motorway tunnels cross the canal between Beverwijk and the nearby city of Haarlem on the south bank.

The Grand Cafe Hermes was a short walk from our hotel. Recommended by the hotel staff and we were not disappointed. Great meals with substantial proportions - the Hermes burger was excellent. Staff excellent - friendly and efficient. We sat outside on a lovely evening on the terrace next to a garden - lovely.Will be going there again tonight bu5 inside as it is raining!Dear GuestThank you very much for taking the time to write a review for us.We hope to see you again.The Hermes Crew wishes you Happiness and Love. So enjoyed everything about the experience...from sitting next to the electric fireplace in comfy chairs to enjoying the company of the restauranteur herself whom I noticed made it a point to greet & chat with everyone. Was lucky the night was not busy as she spent a good amount of time with a glass of wine at our table, speaking English as well, a most interesting person indeed! I would return just to chat with her. The menu was not overwhelming but offered spectacular choices. I understand the menu changes, a real chef's dream, to create with the seasons or availability. Every course was delicious and it was true dining with no rush. There is a large patio which I imagine gets a lot of use in the warmer months. This was the only restaurant I went to in Beverwijk; it was the right choice and I would return again!

Excellent place to stop after a nice (dog) walk in Beeckestijn park and gardens. Lunch, dinner or brunch! The basket with towels for wet dogs was clever. So well behaved dogs are welcome. Very nice interior and friendly service. The hot chocolate was one the best Iâve had and served in a very original way. Also we were pleasantly surprised by the bill. Top class!
