Perhaps when I asked where the fish came from and was told various countries other than Japan (I believe that only 1 fish was from Japan) I should of had some alarm bells ring. There was no otoro or uni etc.. we took the selection of sashimi and sushi and even after eating it the taste was not up to scratch for a Japanese restaurant in a 5* hotel. if this was the worst thing to happen then that would of been ok... the food poisoning that I got... one of the worst that I have ever received...up all night.. extremely sick.. could not sleep... sweating and shivers... a absolute nightmare... I gave my feedback to the hotel as I was staying there. did not get any reply or response at all from my becoming so ill. Based on this experience I will not only never eat at this restaurant but will never stay at the Marriott again... next time will try the Sheraton and or the Westin that is to open (or is it already open)?

So pleasantly surprised with this place, was afraid it was going to be pricey but turned out pretty reasonable when considering quality and amazing decor. Not sure why anyone would rate this place less than 5 stars, Surabaya is lucky to have Kayu. Great service too. Will be back.
