We are suckers for a good wood fired pizza so when we saw this oven cooking food outside of the restaurant we knew we had to stop in.We started with the bruschetta which was fresh and delicious. My husband ordered the pizza which he enjoyed and I ordered the carbonara which was ok.The service was a bit slow as they seemed to have to go out to a local store to get the drinks upon ordering. I never did receive the glass of wine that I ordered.Thanks for the comment. I'm sorry for the inconvenience regarding the wine cup. In order to face the carnival I had to hire a new waiter and I believe that the error is due to inexperience and pressure to cage undergo, we were full of people. And yes, we had finished fresh drinks and waiting for the new ones to cool down we were forced to buy them out to avoid inconvenience to customers and offer better service. We thank you for your kind assistance and we are waiting to offer you a cup of wine to make us forgive. Thank you.Luca

Great food and a beautifully designed outdoor dining area. However, the service was slow. This happens at many Puerto Lopez restaurants, probably because everything is made from scratch and the kitchens are not all that big...woth a visit, though...

We only had drinks here, so this isnât a review of the full restaurant. Four of us stopped here for pre-dinner cocktails, since it looked like an inviting bar. Service was pleasant, if very slow. Each of us ordered a different drinkâManhattan, Daiquiri, Margarita, and white wine, and each of them tasted âoffâ. They were made and delivered (slowly) one at a time, and it appeared the ladies making drinks werenât quite sure how to make them. Atmosphere was pleasant, and the restaurant may be great, but we were disappointed in our drink experience.

We've been in Puerto Lopez for a week and we've eaten here three times. Other restaurants or basic eateries have no comparison to Ancora's menu and meals. We've both had the "Octopus Gallega Style", Vern's had the Tenderloin twice. We've had the tuna salad, green salad and the Caprese salad. I had the shrimp and the calamari dinners. Vern enjoys an espresso after our meal and for our dinner drinks I always enjoy the strawberry smoothie. Vern drinks the (plain) lemonade. Both our favorites is the Octopus. neither of us have ever had it prepared so it comes out this tender. Fantastic! The owners are a couple, he's Spanish and she's Ecuadorian, no wonder the food is so awesome. the service is outstanding. Highly recommend.

I have reviewed this place before, but itâs time for an update since I posted their first review on TripAdvisor. They are in a new, even better location - central on the malecón in Puerto Lopez, right in the middle of town and directly on the beach. Everyone Iâve sent there (and that is a lot of people) still agrees itâs the best ceviche they have eaten anywhere. I go at least once a month to get my fix. Iâm also updating photos of the menu and location. Donât miss having awesome ceviche here right on the beach - I guarantee you wonât be disappointed!

The ceviche was very good, lots of large shrimp and fresh ingredients. The fish and plantain patties were also good and the side order of papa fritas hit the spot.

It is rare that you'll find a place opened before 7pm for supper so this place was a delight. Gloria does up her special Papas de Casa (Thinly sliced potatoes fried with rosemary and oregano) and served with homemade mayo. She cooks up a delicious Dorado burger, too. The owner, Patricio, taught her well. If you are an animal lover, you will love the resident cat, Morena and their Yorkie. This restaurant is situated on an upper level over looking the beach with the best views of the sunsets. The only downfall are the buns for the burgers. Dear sue.Definitly... beautyfull words you choose. Im new in tripadvisor, so i appresiate so much this kind of comment, that makes us improve the menú and keep going. And for you to know, i wasnt happy with the Bread too hahah. So we change it for much better one. So hope to see you around in your next trip to ayampe. Cheers

This was a gem on the way up the coast, nice outdoor seating with an open kitchen. We ordered the armsteak and choripan, and wow do they know how to cook meat here. Argentinian style! Delicious! The vibe is cozy and inviting, nice music, hammocks to relax in after your meal, palo santo burning in the background, and chill music. The servers were knowledgeable, attentive, and welcoming. Will be back!

Nice little restaurant that has good menu. Ate there ceviche and the portions were really good. Ate there also two times more we had fish portion and shrimp portion and also tried their burrito and all were good. Wine was a good choice. The service was friendly.

Visited Jimmys twice during our visit to the coast...the food was delicious and the place is located oceanfront. Enjoyed a delicious fresh fried whole fish; had the corvina and camotillo. Also shrimp ceviche, shrimp rice with fried plantains and cold beer. Great place to enjoy dining with friends and family! Only a few miles from Olon and Puerto Lopez...
