Located in west-central Trinidad, south of Port of Spain, north of Couva and San Fernando, named after the indigenous tribe who originally settled there, it grew in size due to its proximity to the Woodford Lodge sugar refinery. It remained a minor town until the 1980s when it began to grow rapidly as it drew people for its bargain shopping and moderately-priced housing. Went there with my boyfriend for a valentines dinner and it was wonderful. We made reservations because we know it is usually a busy night so we were seated very quickly. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The drinks were great. I love sangrias and the waitress recommended a Carib sangria which was very good. I had a pork slider as the appetizer which was also very good. For the main course I had the pasta rustica and my boyfriend had the Z's Seafood Ravioli which were both delicious. Overall the service, atmosphere and the food was delightful.

Today we decided to try out an A La Carte lunch after a very disappointing dinner last night. A chance to redeem our view of terribly poor service, slow seating, slow order taking, slow arrival of food, and a mediocre meal. Hm.. unfortunately, today was not any better. My hot meal took so long to come to the table, and we were two of only six people in the restaurant, so there was no excuse that they were busy, but the steamed vegetables and the grilled chicken were all ALMOST luke-warm. ALMOST. We were halfway through our meals when the waitress popped up to ask if our meal was fabulous. Really? This place needs a good management shakeup! While the staff were all friendly, the overall impression is of a very loose system. Staff chatting to one another with no eye contact with guests. Thereâs no evidence anywhere of Management checking on staff, or customer satisfaction. Retraining is really needed here as individual friendliness of waiting staff, or a reduction of 10% off my meal, doesnât make up for yet another disappointing dining experience. Weâre here for two weeks, so letâs hope that someone somewhere listens and acts up guests observations! Hilton Hotel, you can, and should, do better than this.
