La Pasiva is one of Punta's classic. I cant say the food is the best I have ever tasted, but it is a place that exists since I was a child! It is a must! During the summer is very crowded and requires lots of patience to get a table. But once you are seated the service is very fast and usually pretty good. So my suggestion is to avoid times when it is crowded (from 9 to 11:00 pm)... A good option is after coming back from the beach, or lated afternoon. Their famous dish is hotdog (ask for them to heat the bread!). It is just simple, plain sausage + bread. If you think it is too plain for your taste they can add cheese on top (it is also great!) or even wrap it in bacon. La Passiva is also known for having a special mustard, pretty spicy. Another dish everyone should have is Faina, which is basically a cheeseless pizza made of chickpea flour. My suggestion is to ask for pieces of the edge of the dish, usually they are a little burned and tast delicious. Another classic are the chivitos (not my favorite, but still a must try). Chivitos are basically a HUGE open sandwich full of pretty much everything possible with a side of fries. Oh... they also have good beer and great desserts.

This fun little whole in the wall pizza join is one not to be missed. The service is prompt and friendly even though they get slammed almost every night. The pizza is good, ambiance fun, casual and beachy...don't expect great pizza or a fantastic meal, but good joint to go check out for a more casual Barra experience.

We ordered the eggplant, pepper, mozzarella pizza and the tomato, basil, mushroom pizza. The toppings were good and the sauce was light. I liked the eggplant one more. The crust was too crunchy for my liking which is why I gave it an average rating. I think crust can make or break a pizza. It's a decent pizza but it's 370 pesos which is on the high end for a personal pizza. The highlight of the meal was the amazing Soufflé desert imported from New York. We had it with strawberry ice cream and it tastes like cookie dough with melted chocolate in the center. I posted a picture but we had already started digging into it. I highly recommend the desert. The other bonus is this place has all vegetarian ingredients. I'm not familiar with kosher but it's a bonus in my book. Thank you so much for your review!We try to cater to all tastes, some like soft crust, some like it harder.We are very flexible and a customer can ask for soft or harder crust. Some clients walk in and we already know what they like! Safe travels!

Went there last night following friends' recommendation. Our party of three went for meat dishes. I took a Texas burger. My companions both ask for "chivito" (a very typical Uruguayan grilled meat sandwich). The burger came very well done, almost burnt, despite my request for a medium cooking. It was not a problem of language as Spanish is my native tongue. The food came very salty and almost cold. Chivitos were inedible. May be it wasn't my lucky day. People flock to this restaurant and usually very long lines mean a considerable wait for a table. Prices are correct. I might give them a second chance, with pizza maybe, and try to understand what the fuzz is all about.

Sumo is a dependable standby that stays open during afternoon hours from 4-7 when most others are closed. Going back to Sumo in the future is a certainty. The waiters are efficient andservice is done well even when it gets very busy.Everything I have tried was good. The fruit drinks are excellent, almost a meal in themselves. The chicken Caesar salad is great, and the pizza is excellent. I stay away from the mushroom sauce items because the mushrooms are canned.

Elmo used to be a tiny little hidden Pizza place, simple but with alot of shabby chic ambiance! The Pizza and other simple food is still great but the prices have gone up since they started 5 years ago!

Amazing experience watching Diego making the fresh pizzas on the stone oven. The music was good and the place is very cozy and well located. Even though there were only 2 guys working (Diego that owns the place and one assistant), the service was extremely fast and they were very friendly and efficient. The pizza was perfect, really perfect. The price was reasonable, cheap if you compare with other places in Punta. I consider La Fusion a must go place in Punta del Este.
