Reviews on Mediterranean food in Cerveteri, Province of Rome, Italy. Cerveteri [tʃerˈvɛːteri] is a town and comune of northern Lazio in the region of the Metropolitan City of Rome. Known by the ancient Romans as Caere, and previously by the Etruscans as Caisra or Cisra, and as Agylla (or Άγυλλα) by the Greeks, its modern name derives from Caere Vetus used in the 13th c. to distinguish it from Caere Novum (the current town).

I went to this restaurant based on the Trip Advisor review while traveling through the area. The place is new and apparently so is the staff- who were not current on the plates they were offering and not very attentive. They didn't have several local wines from their menu and the food was ok, but nothing to write home about. We had a nice lunch but I won't return.

The place is a "hole in the wall "type of place which at first sight does not even look like a place where to eat. But once inside the intense fish smell coming from the kitchen tells a different story. Generous portions, good taste and very honest prices. Decor and design are very essential with paper table cloth, coffee in plastic cups and vinegar in one way packages. But the service is fast, efficient and friendly and 23 Euro for a three course meal including wine, water and coffee are unbeatable. Payment cash only, no cards at all (credit or debit). Your clothes will smell intensely of fish, so make sure you do not have romantic engagements later ;-)!

The B&B where we were staying recommended this restaurant to us. The views from the terrace are amazing, especially at sunset. The prices on the menu were surprisingly low. We all ate like kings. My son had the gnocchi al castrato, my daughter had togliolini al limone, my father had spaghetti al ragù and I had strozzapreti all'arrabiata. We split one serving of grigliata mista just so we could taste. The house wine (red) was good, very light. The complimentary cookies were delicious! The only drawback I can think of was the bread which lacked salt but I believe that's the way they make in in this area. All together a great "last supper" to our Italian vacation!

Sitting here eating gnocchi and it is simply marvelous. My husband has a pasta with pecorino cheese. I have to steal bites of his too. We canât decide which is the best but they are both wonderful. We told her we only had a little time so she started our food right away.

This is a small, local place on a side street in the old town of Cerveteri. It can get very busy so reservations are recommended, particularly if you wish to dine outside. The food that I had was wonderful, the service friendly, and the entire evening - a delight.

It is well with a visit to Cerveteri just for a traditional meal at Aria, a new restaurant with wonderful food by chef Marco and ambience set by host Ariana. That said, the osteria is perfectly situated near the entrance to Cerveteri's beautiful centro storico (just at the bottom of the small hill leading up to the old town). Ariana bakes the wonderful bread herself. The pasta is perfection (the carbonara is expertly made with special attention to the texture of the eggs, and somehow not at all heavy). It's a joy just to while away the time before a good meal and very good wine; every detail has been designed and attended do to with care and love, from the architecture designed around ancient aqueducts in the back, to the lovely etchings placed in the tables. Don't miss this!

This pittoresque restaurant is located in the countryside of Cerveteri, surrounded by wine yards and olive trees. Friendly setting with an outstanding menu. Primarily sea food based, paired with vegetables grown in the restaurant's back garden - you will be blown away by the delicious flavours. Special care taken with the ingredients resulting in superbe healthy dishes. Service was excellent with the kindest staff. An absolute must visit!

We were welcomed personally by the owner, Massimo. He said he could serve whatever we wanted and explained the menu and the specialties. He let us try some of his recommended foods and drinks. We had the best grilled calamari ever, enjoyed a special oval pizza with a softer and higher dough, my daughther was enthusiastic about the shrimps risotto and my wife loved the truffle pasta. We also liked the white table vine. All in all this was one of the greatest restaurant experiences we have ever had. Very recommendable.
