Misawa Station Soba Corner

Reviewed By braybrigade

The building is being demolished and the soba shop relocated, so we stopped by to enjoy the authentic, old-fashioned atmosphere before it’s gone for good. The menu features a few staples like soba, udon, curry rice, onigiri, and inarizushi. It was all simple, tasty, and very reasonably priced - not to mention quick. The set meal with your choice of soba or udon and curry rice is only ¥550, and that’s the most expensive thing on the menu!

Kikuzushi

I've eaten at Kiku Zushi several times in the past year. It has become one of my favorite restaurants in Misawa. The food is reliably delicious, fresh-tasting, and attractively presented. Service is very good. Without exception the waitresses are friendly, helpful, and patient with non-Japanese speakers. Decor is typical Japanese. One can dine at the sushi counter if solo or in individual rooms with sunken tables if with a group. Prices are very reasonable. The dinner sets contain large amounts of food. Folks with smaller appetites might consider ordering a la carte. The restaurant is a direct three-minute walk from the main entrance to Misawa Air Base. I recommend Kiku Zushi to anyone hungering for fresh sushi and tempura served in an authentic Japanese restaurant.

The restaurant is small and cozy with a long bar along the front wall looking into the large tank of fresh fish!! I have never experienced my food watching me before I ordered it, but it was reat fun! Expertly prepared and beautiful to see - even the shrimp were dancing with excitement! A group of us went in and we got more food than we expected at really great prices!! Best bet for dinner is here!!

Meat Plazaogata

I came across this on a YouTube video and as I was headed in that direction I decided to try some horse meat! It was a bit difficult to communicate as there was no English at all but I stumbled through with my terrible Japanese skills and ordered a set. The staff triple checked to make sure I knew it was horse meat. That was kind to help foreigners know ahead of time. The horse sashimi was very tasty. The BBQ was a bit lower quality but still good. The GPS had a hard time finding the location but don't give up!

Came here after traveling for about 12 hours from Korea. Good food and decent prices. I would come back again. People in the group had the following dishes and everyone enjoyed it: Cutlet curry, yakisoba (thin noodles tho), soba (again, thinner noodles), bariyaki and fried rice (i think). Beer was cold.

Thunder Ramen as its conveniently named. Is great. The food is amazing. Everything we order tasted great and everyone loved their dishes. The service is average Japanese experience with two traditional Japanese tables. Parking and seating are limited so plan ahead of a large group. Definitely recommend to any one visiting Misawa.

While visiting Misawa, my host family took us to this restaurant so we could enjoy a delicious Japanese meal along with a dinner show highlighting music and dances of the Aomori Nebuta Festival. It was a wonderful evening and I highly recommend for tourists visiting the area. The sashimi is very fresh and you cook individual kabobs at your table.Towards the end of your meal, the show begins and the wait staff become participants in the live show. We finished a wonderful evening by enjoying a hot springs bath at this hotel.
