We found this restaurant open on a Monday night after being told most places would be closed, a large menu, good food and excellent service what more could we ask for.

It has been a very long while since we last visited La Fornace and I was really looking forward to re-discovering this Italian restaurant. Our party of 7 spanning three generations booked a table outside in the shade on a balmy Friday evening recently. The first thing I noticed was that all the personnel had changed. Service was OK and we were regularly topped up with drinks (Kölsch) as at least four of us were quite thirsty that night. To get things going in the right spirit I order an Aperol Royal Prosecco which I have been drinking a lot of recently. Here it came in a tiny glass - for over 4,00 Euro. I was disappointed. As a starter I liked the sound of baby calarmares with salad. I was dismayed, however to discover that it was a huge plate - certainly enough for a main course & in fact one of our party did, indeed order it as his main course. I followed this with a pizza diavolo which was also huge - I simply couldn't finish it. I suppose having too much is better than not having enough but I just felt overwhelmed...The others in our party were satisfied enough. They had a range of dishes all of which were well cooked. Somehow I left with mixed feelings. The place had somehow changed for an atmospheric point of view. One of the waitresses who could hardly speak German let alone English which somehow seemed to sum it up for me - there was the missing homely, friendly feel about the whole place which I remember from the past. Sorry, but for me I classify it now as "average" even though my 13 year old son thought it was "excellent" because he liked his pizza margarita :-)

We ate here a few times while staying at the hotel, for lunch and dinner.The menu captures traditional Italian options, as well as a few "creative interpretations" which provide for an interesting variation on Italian cuisine. The wine is Italian, complemented by outstanding Italian sparkling wine.We loved our times here, and saved our final dinner at the hotel for this restaurant. It was definitely worth it!

Family members had recommended coming to the Osteria del Corso for a truly excellent Italian culinary experience. So I took a couple of visiting international colleagues there recently and I can confirm that this is a great place. We parked behind the Aral petrol station across the road and our first impressions on entering this establishment were already positive. The decor is pleasantly up market and the reception from the staff behind the bar was warm and welcoming despite our not having a reservation.We were seated inside at the back and waited on very attentively. The menu is presented both in German and English which was highly appreciated thus avoiding my need to translate everything for my guests. I should add that some translation was still needed when the days special appeared on a separate black board. All three of us chose to start the meal with Aperol Spritze to get us into the Italian mood. I chose two things from the black board, a delicious bowl of baby calamari - small squid in an apparently spicy tomato sauce (not very spicy in my opinion) followed by veal liver with potatoes and vegetables. My colleagues both went for curry coconut ginger soup with prawns and fish - salmon for one and a huge piece of cod for the other. Both dishes looked and, in fact were, delicious. I don't usually follow with dessert but I made an exception as the chocolate Tartufo ice with cherries sounded fantastic. And it was!We shared a half litre carafe of Negramaro red wine which was nice.Service throughout was very friendly & professional. I can certainly concur that this is a very special, authentic Italian restaurant - certainly a cut above your average pizzeria. We'll be back.

The restaurant is located at the main road between Bergisch Gladbach and Bensberg. Parking is possible in front of the restaurant but not there are not plenty of them. The place started, at least it looks like, as take away and delivery service for Italian food. They added a little room lately which is nicely decorated. When the weather is good then they add a few beer benches outside. The menu is not very big, they are well known for their excellent pizzas. The pizzas are huge. We had a salad upfront which was big too. That was an error. The service is nice.

Glücklicherweise wohnen wir quasi um die Ecke und kommen sehr gerne hier Eis essen. Das Eis, egal welche Sorte schmeckt immer sehr gut! Egal, ob in Köln oder sonst wo, für uns gibt es hier das beste Eis! Die beiden Jungs hinter der Theke sind immer gut drauf und freundlich. Es ist hier grundsätzlich voll, was ja für sich spricht Ich würde gern ein Foto hochladen, aber wir haben natürlich schon wieder alles aufgegessen! Bis bald
