Arrived back in village by train and as walking to my car, there was a nice smell of cooking in the air. There was only one place it could be, so I decided to try the restaurant. Good decision. The food was excellent. Good portions and very reasonably priced. Would I eat there again - yes!!

We love the place and its large rooms, its garden, its garden, its easy parking, and its sweet atmosphere. We were less impressed with the food. While the portion sizes were generous, their fried fish was soaked in cooking oil and did not seem to be prepared with love and expertise. (We had better fried fish elsewhere). Salad was also soaked in dressing that was too sweet. Grilled prawns with vegetables looked more like prawns swimming in cooking oil. Bratkartoffeln were not that good either. What a pity that such a lovely place couldn't offer better food. The nice part was the ice cream menu that was truly tasty and more lovingly done. And, not too expensive when compared to ice cream in Otterndorf or Cuxhaven.
Stopped here, based on Tripadvisor ratings and soo happy we did! This appears to be the normal of normal German village restaurants, but that stops when the food arrives. What an amazing quality! We had the more traditional beef stock and steakpfanne, as well as mullygawtany and a variety of boeuf bourguinon previously unkwown to me (sauce on a mustard base) and what a delight! This has been one of the best country dinners ever! We'll be back, although not often in this neighborhood!

A very nice local hangout in the small village of Cadenberge. The menu is in German only however some of the waitstaff understands a small amount of English. The menu options are outstanding, everything from Tapas (which I recommend) to a dinner salad which you can order with anything from steak to fish. Very refreshing. This restaurant serves up some of the best and most interesting ice creams I have ever enjoyed. You must save room for these amazing treats.Remember you are in Germany where the water is fizzy unless you ask for still water. Still water will cost about double the price.

Went to the restaurant a few time while staying in Wingst. The food is ok, the waitress is nice and service minded, but every time we went there, this strange angry man came out from the kitchen, and randomly shouted at guests, kids and the staff.Very strange and since the food was not that great anyway, we decided to eat at some of the other restaurants in the area, the rest of the week.Overall I guess the restaurant is ok

We were making a trip to an Oldtimer market in the socalled "Alte Land", Hamburg's vegetable and fruit backyard. Obviously because of the cold, not much blossom to see yet. After visiting the Oldtimer market in Drochtersen, we decided to pay a call at the Oelschläger Stubbe restaurant of the hotel. It's an eight table environment like you would have had while visiting your grandmother/father...I took the menu consisting of three dishes, main dish a fresh piece of, I don't remember, what fish..Very good and plentifull, no fancy design kitchen and small portions. One doesn't go away hungry. The place does have a bit of an unpleasant kitchen smell wavering around, probably could use a bit better "ventilation"...
